I know we sacked you, but can you come and work for us for free?

My second word would be off.

Police cuts will not affect frontline services according to DC and Theresa ' I love Romulan outfits ' May.

The worrying thing is that is they believe that then they are more out of touch than I thought they were.

Police budgets are being slashed to the bone and the effects are being felt now. Pensions are next in their sights and it is something I will certainly take up peaceful protest to fight and I am one of 130,000 who feel the same.

I'm just saying if these people got into the service for the right reasons, they might not be pulling their faces when they can contribute something back.

It's not like they would have got a better paid job anywhere else with their limited skillset.

These people are retired, they have skills and the country is paying their pension. If they had become coppers for the greater good as opposed to it being a well paid, civil job then why would they not consider it?

Coppers are coppers because they can't get jobs doing anything else and it pays well. Self service was their only intention, like most coppers.

How is the country paying their penson, they would have paid into the system and through taxes:confused:

Who has cut the police numbers again?

I am sure a budget will be signed off and the head guys have to make it fit.

For instance I am sure lincolnshire police dont really need a tractor and trailer combo (total cost £100,000) crawling along the streets telling us all what a great job they are doing, when they could be spending that cash on coppers.

Likewise I am sure they didnt need to have a 2 week old police station repainted because a minor royal was paying a visit.

Little things like that, you know?

Multiply that, and the other completely brain dead antics of Lincolnshire police force by the other forces across the country, and I am sure they could have found some savings somewhere if they really tried.

But then again, this is the police we are talking about I suppose, so we should not expect too much thought to be going in to anything they do.

The country paid them thier salary that allowed them to contribute to the pension in the first place. It's called the public sector.

Fine then. We'll completely privatise absolutely every service possible. Then we can all be happy that "our" money isn't paying anyone's wages.

I propose OCP for control of the police force. Let's get it moving!

I didnt say that, I just answered your question.

My Dad was forced in to retirement after 35 years of service.

He was asked if he could kindly pass on any valuable contacts, leads, information he has. Still even gets calls now asking for advise.

He politely tells them that it was not his choice to leave, he obviously wasn't needed so why should he pass on info.

It is a joke, these guys they are laying off are invaluable, it was only a few weeks before my dad retired he cracked an undercover operation meaning millions of £ worth of plant machinery which was stolen being recovered and the gang being put away a long time.

Really is wrong!

So if some little kid gets killed because your Dad was too bitter to help the remaining police to do their job and catch criminals, he can smuggly say to the parents "Well I could've helped easily, but they upset me first... Too bad about your kid"

Another crappy analogy... it's not his fault that the child died, you can't put that sort of BS responsibility onto him.

Christ, the ludicrous mentality of people in here worries me sometimes.

Ok, but ultimately, it is the general public who are suffering from his Dad not giving the contact details because he is too bitter about being made to retire - despite the fact those who made him retire were practically forced to. His way of 'getting back' doesn't really get them back anyway - it is the public who will suffer, and for what reason exactly?

Christ, the ludicrous mentality of people in here worries me sometimes.

Serious? Mindless insult?

Most of the Officers I work with are educated to at least A Level and above. Most of the Officers I work with actually took a pay cut to join the Police. To say they couldn't get a job anywhere else is frankly laughable.

When I joined over 20 years ago there were 6 people on my intake. Some of the people whittled away due to not being Physically and Mentally up to scratch were Bank managers, Teachers, Firemen, Middle management. I met at least 10 people from the Forces over the time that it took to get in - every one of them was binned. At the time my Force stated that for every one of us sat on that intake about 50 people had failed.

If you think it is easy to become a Police Officer and they will accept anyone - try to apply and see how far you get. There is a thread elsewhere in these forums where people have outlined their experiences - I can assure you that some of them have had to jump through hoops to get in.

I'll also correct your false assumption. Most people join the Police because they want to live in a safe and civilized society. They want to make a difference and help people. They want to put criminals behind bars.

Imagine you were a Gas engineer employed by British Gas. They told you last week you were redundant and this week they send you a letter asking you to come back and fit boilers for them free of charge. No difference really.
