£400-500 gaming build for a friend.

Just seeing if it's possible to build something for a friend. He needs everything.
Even the keyboard and mouse. He's not a serious PC gamer but he still likes to play PC games and was very interested when I showed him Crysis :3 So just wondering if anyone can make a half decent gaming build, anything I try always ends up at about £700 D:

If you use a 19" screen then its £500

Whats the difference between DVI and analog? Also is the 5830 a capable graphics card? I was thinking the lower the screen resolution the longer it'll last him :3

The 5830 is very capable it will do Crysis fine.

DVI is a digital connection, suppose to provide a better picture quality, I havent used older D-Sub/VGA/Analogue for years, so cant remeber how it compares.

Will still play all your games fine - does he not have keyboard/mouse already? At the very least speakers/headset - even headphones??! :eek:

A member on here (think it's Shadow_Boxer) recently built a budget gaming PC around a X3 445 and a HD5850 - maxes BF:BC2 easily so I would be shocked if this spec couldn't run it on high at the very least!

X3 can also (emphasis on can) sometimes unlock to an X4 and can sometimes unlock L3 cache - both of which beneficial to gaming.

Alas I've never experienced the difference a sub makes or experienced any 2.1 speakers, so I'm in no place to offer an opinion on them

I wonder if RJC still has his Z4s that he was going to sell to me?
