I have a Gigabyte P67A-UD4, and sometimes, on a cold boot, it takes a long time to get past the first step (bit that shows processor name, but before it loads the drives). Can be up to 45 seconds here?

This doesn't always happen which is strange?

TBH, for a PC that is less than a week old, I shoulnd't be having to take out a CMOS battery!

PC was built by OC'UK, so I guess a call to their support lines is in order?

Yep, currently running at 4500

yep same prob here when i 1st got the b3 i was getting post probs . i called ocuk and thats what they told me to do :)

when you have done that the bios will come up set to default. see how pc runs then if all ok. go back in bios press f12 load ocuk profile if you got your pc as a overclocked bundle

Right, I think this may be connected to my other issue of slow boots with External HDD plugged in (I initially thought this was only after windows logo loaded, and not the POST)

I D/C the drives, and I have not had the issues.

Another question: How do I see the BIOS version of the board? I went into the BIOS, and I can't see the version anywhere? It may be shown during the POST, but it goes away too quickly for me to read it?

I may well try the Battery issue however (don't really know how/why this would solve it mind you?)

When you go into the first post screen the bios version comes up.

No good, doesn't stay on the screen long enough for me to read it.
I think it's the latest one however!

Edit: I stuck the CD in, and there's a system tab that showed the BIOS version! I am on the latest one (as expected TBH)

I had issues similar to this until I synchronised both bioses. On Boot hold ALT+F12 until you see a message saying it is copying to backup bios. After I did that it no longer had the cold boot issues.

If you want to check your bios version, F3 being the latest, grab the latest cpu-z and under the motherboard tab it will show what your current version is.
