Hi there, today I am thinking of buying the nvidia 3d Vision and the LG W2363D monitor.

Firstly my main concern is having full HD whilst 3D gaming. I have read that a lot of the 3D monitors do not support Full HD whilst in 3D mode. If this is true is they anyway to avoid this please?

Also ive read countless threads and websites regarding monitors, but they all seem to have different opinions on which is the best monitor to use for the 3D. Is this LG monitor good in comparison to your more expensive brands such as BenQ,Acer, I do realise the LG monitor is a lot cheaper than other alternatives.

I'm hoping someone can answer my questions as i would like to purchase today. Kind Regards

First thing, probably best not to use the term "HD3D" in this context, this is actually the brand name of AMD's 3D technology - which doesn't work with standard 120Hz monitors like that LG.

However, I can confirm that the LG monitor you mention does indeed work with Nvidia 3D vision and does display 3D @ 1080p (60Hz per eye). Also, the LG is one of the very best 120Hz monitors out at the moment - have a look at this review.

Thats brilliant, was just reading that review actually, its a great read.

Would the 1080P be displayed using a hdmi cable? ( i was provided one with my gtx 480) or would it be by some other method?

Kind Regards

You will need to connect the monitor to the graphics card using a dual-link DVI cable. HDMI 1.4 only has enough bandwidth to support either 3D images in 1080p@24Hz or 720p@60Hz, meanwhile dual-link DVI can support a 3D image in 1080p@60Hz, which is what is displayed on that LG monitor.

I believe you get a dual-link DVI cable with the monitor and this will work fine with your GTX 480 graphics card.

Ah that's good then so the 1080P wont be hindered at all with using the Dual Link DVI cable?

Youve been a great help and just confirmed my decision to buy the monitor :D, Do you own this monitor? If so what are your thoughts on the actually look of it

Indeed - that type of cable fully supports 2D 1080p@120Hz or 3D 1080p@60Hz - so the monitor and 3D system will work exactly as it should.

I don't have the monitor, but I was seriously considering buying it a few weeks ago (and using it in 3D with my GTX 295 graphics card), so I did a lot of research on how it worked and how it should be set up.

In the end I went for a 32in 1080p LG TV (standard 60Hz) for £219 which uses a high quality IPS panel (32LD450) instead of going for a 23in 3D system.

I just don't think its possibly, ive never seen any option for 3D, i also checked the Nvidia 3D gamelist and it wasn't on there.

Ah yes, it does seem to have an issue.

Looking at this thread it hasn't been resolved yet, but one of the Nvidia 3D guys did post this on April 18th:

Hi

Just posting we are aware of the issue and will investigate a fix for our next major driver release

So hopefully it will be resolved soon enough and you will be able to play CSS in 3D with your new monitor.

Oh jesus that is awesome!! I didn't even know they had worked on the CSS in 3D!!! Well the order has been placed so role on tomorrow :D

Ill let you know how i get on thanks for your time :D

Okecoke ive received the monitor and the 3d vision kit.

Firstly i just want to say the monitor is awesome, i cannot believe how much improvement graphically my games look. It almost seems like my previous monitor was holding it back :S

I've had a go with the 3d Vision Kit and from first impressions im not impressed. All my games look dark and dull even after tweaking brightness and gamma and it gives me a headache. I'm guessing the headaches will stop when my eyes become adjusted to it a little more. Like i said from first impressions im not happy at all as of yet. But the monitor is excellent!!

i agree about the monitor been awesome,excellent..etc,i have one & all my games look so much better than they did on my previous Benq G2420HDB,everytime i play a game i'm like WoW it look so nice, its like my Benq wasn't a proper HD monitor. (plus the bonus of having 120hz refresh rate = smoother gameplay) ;)

Hi Watlinguk/as906 - glad you're both pleased with the W23636D. Do you notice your graphics cards (especially the 5850 as i have one) running any hotter? I'm about to bite the bullet on this one

nope,my hd 5850 is actually running few degrees cooler than my last hd 5770 but my hd 5850 is the new Extreme version, shorter than reference hd 5850 cards (about the same size of hd 5770),absolutely silent when playing power hungry games (gta iv,bfbc2,shift2,assass..etc) unlike hd 5770 the fan doesn't get noisy at speeds above 50% (or even at 100%).hd 5779 @ 65%+ fan speed sounds like a hair dryer.

Hi Shuffle I haven't yet noticed any increasing within temperatures despite seeing an increase in graphical performance.

That been said I have my fan speed at 70% all the time so it remains quite cool, most of the time.

Absolutely love this Monitor just gutted about the 3D

Your eyes will adjust to the 3D. Took me a while to get used to it. Try it on about 15%, and slowly work your way up as your eyes become accustomed to it.

I don't use mine as much as I thought I would. I don't enjoy certain games in 3D, but racing games are amazing, as well as the few 3D films I've tried.

If you don't like 3D, I suppose you can always return the glasses and keep the monitor.
