Hi guys, i got given an old IBM think pad today and i want to get it working.

Simple question: The laptop takes 16v @ 3.34 amps.

The only power cable i have that fits it is 19v @ 3.34 amps...

Is it safe to use this power cable on it?

Thank you.

It's only a few volts so 'should' be ok. Considering that it's old and you didn't pay for it I'd be tempted to shove it in and see what happens.

Well, can i use it? lol.

Well you've had a yes from someone who thinks nearly 20% more voltage is OK, a sarcastic yes and 2 no's.

What do you think?

The answer, by the way, is yes if you want to risk frying it and no if you don't.

A suitable charger would seem to be available for less than £10 if you look for it.

I'll buy a multi-voltage power supply tomorrow so i can use it on laptops that i get as jobs... i didn't wanna justify spending money to see if a laptop works :P. At least i have an excuse haha.
