Is it worth the small upgrade?

This PC is starting to show signs of age, struggles at times. It's currently...

E6300 @ 2.66Ghz (380FSB)
OCZ PC8500 (But only at 760mhz due to FSB)
Gigabyte DS3
OCZ 550 PSU
8800GT 512mb

Just wondering if it would be worth it, would things like Bad Company 2 benefit from it?

Thanks

Around £50 somewhere else or on in MM if one pops up.

May be worth changing GFX instead, as it only runs Bad Company 2 @ 720res with everything on low at 20fps :(

Don't really want to spend that much just on a card, will be doing a big overhaul of this sytem soonish!

Reading around, people seem to be getting many more FPS than using a 8800GT.

Even a 460 would dunzo your 8800 GT on BattleField

OHH the 470 is on an awesome special right now. £150 is madness.

Hi there,

May I ask what chipset your gigabyte DS3 uses (or at least the full product name of the motherboard)? As there are a few different versions.

DS3-945P thats running F14d bios, which is basically REV 3 and would accept 1066mhz FSB.

Before the bios update i could run 400FSB, however after the upadate it hits a wall at 380 and will not post anything higher than that. Which is a shame, as it's like the RAM is being wasted (Not sure if quicker RAM would make THAT much difference).

CPU use to run at 3Ghz easy, now the max i can get is 2.66Ghz.
