EA deals on steam

hmmmmm i have to jump through hoops for the DLC?
I'll wait for GOTY thanks.. still haven't completed crysis 2 and batman yet O_o

Both games are an absolute bargain at that price.

Fingers crossed for Crysis tomorrow :p - there must be a Crysis day surely?

Last sale I picked up Crysis and Crysis warhead for ~£7.

If Crysis 2 is anywhere near £15 I'll be happy. Never played ME1 or ME2 so it was very much an impulse buy :)

It is *only* £2.50 but i'm totally in two minds about this. I never get along with RPGs - the only ones i've really loved were the PSone Final Fantasy games. I got about six hours into Fallout 3 and gave up because it wasn't gripping me at all. Bioshock the same.

I guess I just like my action games "pure" - I don't want to sit there looking at dialog, or fiddling with weapons, I just want to play the game. But, does ME force you to go through all that, or is the combat enough to carry it?

Had a look at some reviews on various sites, and they all rave about it, but I can't say that it draws me in at all. Am I wasting my time trying?

The IGN review I watched earlier says the combat is clunky, but the story more than makes up for it.

Mass Effect is truly one of the best RPGs ever made. Saying that the combat isn't perfect in the first game, it's much more 'Gears of War' in the sequel.

However, if you don't like dialogue, I'd stay well clear of all RPGs!

Oh I don't mind dialogue at all - I really liked the Assassin's Creed series, and you had to sit there after every assassination and listen to a life story!

But I don't want to drown in it either.

I guess the only way i'm going to tell if I like it or not is by buying it.

[Edit] Actually, maybe all those years of playing World of Warcraft has ruined RPGs for me, given how kiddified and simple it is, anything deeper than a puddle just can't grab my attention. :/

Well you can skip through a lot of it and ignore all the optional dialogue (in conversation the left side of the conversation wheel goes deeper into the plot, backstory etc but the right advances the plot).

The RPG elements can look quite substantial but D&D or SPECIAL it is not.

I'd say for less than the cost of a pint, it's worth a punt!

Mass Effect 2 is leagues ahead of the first game in terms of actual gameplay mind, can't wait for the third!

It is still madness to be on sale without the DLCs for £15 for the deluxe version which still doesn't include the DLCs.
Dissapointing, I would have expected a GOTY or ultimate version by now.

I just did something really stupid on ME2. Was on the Normandy crash site planet and it kept saying 'press F to plant monument'. You can not leave the planet until you do that. But it wasn't doing anything, i tried pressing and holding F and pressed every button on the keyboard to no avail. So i loaded it up again but it still didn't work(i only had 2 saves about 5 mins apart, LOL)

i got really annoyed and then i quit to look for a solution online. As i quit, i realised that F was mele, but that i had remapped ot the only button that i hadn't pressed, the middle mouse button:D
It works of course:o:o:o

Yeah 1 of those great moments where you realise the devs were too ****ing lazy to have the games popups keep track of custom configurations. Had similar things happen several times. I remapped melee to Mouse 4 and swapped Pause and Sprint around (who the hell uses sprint as space in any game ever?) and would occasionally get screwed over by it.

Dude, spoilers.

It was released 16 months ago, anyone who gives a crap should know already. Besides it happens at the start in a cut-scene, barely even qualifies as a spoiler.

89% downloaded, cant wait to play ME, hope its as good as i have read. Not played an RPG since The Witcher.

It is as good as you've read:) And you get straight in to the action too.
I recently played through it again and found it to be much better than i remembered it from the first playthrough(i loved it anyway). I think mainly because i put points in to weapons skills more, which greatly improved the combat:)

I'd not really played ME for any length of time, but between ME, LOTRO & Section 8:Prejudice it's keeping me out of mischief.

I think you'll like it once you get round the quirky combat, which by all accounts it more fluid in ME2.
