Single card - http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2010/12/15/ati-radeon-hd-6970-review/10 - 306W, adding another wont make 612W
You need to check that both PCI-E slots run at equal speeds when using two gpus, I know the GD55/65 do.
And he's buying a 6950, not a 6970.
Not really. A 2x pci x16 mobo will add quite a lot to the budget. There will be pretty much no noticeable difference crossfiring with one x16 and one x8 slots.

That calculator seems massively off then from what you are saying, it reccomends 950W for the spec I posted with crossfire 6870's...
Yeah, a V1 reference card. With the intention of flashing it to a HD6970.
What was your point?![]()
8x/8x is available in the GD53/55/65, all around the £100-130 price mark.
There will be a 1-2% max loss in framerates for these boards.
Again, failing to see your point?![]()
The point that a flashed 6950 uses less power than a 6970.
I'll give you this one![]()
But with the 700w PSU the OP has said he will be getting power isn't an issue![]()
