No, I am.

Just closer than I'd like (I like headroom, hence me spending £50 at the time - and now it's £39

on a PSU that had 80W more than my old one, that was still adequate

Also, I'd been mis-reading the anandtech benchmarks for ages! Thought the figure was just the amount for the gpu/s

Not really. A 2x pci x16 mobo will add quite a lot to the budget. There will be pretty much no noticeable difference crossfiring with one x16 and one x8 slots.

That calculator seems massively off then from what you are saying, it reccomends 950W for the spec I posted with crossfire 6870's...

8x/8x is available in the GD53/55/65, all around the £100-130 price mark.

Bear in mind this is with a previous gen i7 that draws quite a lot more power than SB i5

Right so the bottom line i've drawn from this is that 700W will handle 6950's crossfire? Yes? I'd bring the old card back down to a 6950 if going crossfire, twice the chance of something going wrong and I don't trust my luck

700W will be enough for CF HD6970s - let alone HD6950s

EDIT: Seems there isn't much in it between CF 6950s against 6970s - but it's free performance, might as well capitalise on it
