I have a film stuck in my head, not sure which era at all but I presume 90's/20's...
It's basically a Mad Max style movie, I reckon. This high walled compound set at the edge of the jungle, where a tribe of mixed race people(Americans and so on) live but are too scared to venture into the jungle for fear of other tribes of people. The walls are high and I'm sure it's on the edge of a river to prevent these other folks getting in. I believe there's guns involved but could be wrong. Anyway, I'm sure people finally venture out or so forth and there's a big fight and struggle near the end with these other groups trying to invade the settlement. Might be downed helicopter pilots or US soldiers that are helping the compounded tribes. Not sure!

Checked the trailer and the second half, with the camp near the river seems very recognisable!
