Radeon HD 6970M upgrade

Hey all,

I've got the MSI GX660R it has the HD5870 1GB DDR5

is it possible to upgrade this chip to the HD6970M?
or wont the motherboard in this laptop support the upgrade?

a lot, i would first off contact MSI first. As they will have the firmware updates and heatsinks bits if needed.

Expect the card alone to cost somewhere around £300-400 at a minimum. MXM cards tend not to be cheap to get hold of, as they haven't made a consumer market out of it (essentially its to make things easier for vendors, not the consumer).
