Is the original Mortal Kombat film the only vaguely enjoyable film based on a fighting game?
Having seen the Tekken and King of Fighters films, it seems like most filmmakers are completely incapable of putting together anything that isn’t an utter mess. I’ve not watched the most recent Streetfighter film, I gather it’s less enjoyable than herpes, although it does have Kristen Kreuk in it, which creates an interesting conflict as to whether to watch it or not…

Worth your time. ;)

Best streetfighter is the animated one. Its really very good.

DOA is a fun watch though.

The old streetfighter movie may be a joke but looking back it was actually a pretty decent attempt! They got a lot of the characters spot on, the best being

Raul Julia as Bison
Ming-Na as Chun-Li
Kylie Minogue as Cammy
Wes Studi as Sagat

Ming-Na in particular being the best Chun-Li on screen so far:

Look up the film press start, a terribly good film, just done a sequal but i havent seen it yet

also just in the terrible games based movies look into the gamers:dorkness rising another terribly good game

Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie is pretty much the best one there is in any media form and pretty much the most appropriate. It's also partly thanks to this movie that the Zero/Alpha games were made too.

Mortal Kombat, and the first film only, is for me the only decent and acceptable one in live-action, regardless of the silly choice of actors in it. Christopher Lambert as the Japanese God of Thunder, white dudes as a Chinese and Japanese ninja.......just LOL!
