Hey,

I have some budget for an i5 build, general use, some games, CS4.

So around the £700 mark, less is good, could someone please help me out with speccing a build?

i5 2500k,
Gigabyte mobo (out of preference, if anyone has any strong objection please speak up),
case-wise I prefer boxy and plain,
and this (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-004-XG) are the only things set in stone really.

Cheers for help. :)

An antec 300 case would suffice. For you budget, the Gigabyte ud4 would be sensible. Basically, I'd recommend the setup in my sig, with your choice of GPU and maybe a lower wattage psu.:)

• 2600K on today special offer
• GTX460 1GB due on the 9th, still has CUDA® and PhysX® support
• 4GB of RAM
• A slightly slower 5400rpm 1TB HDD for storage.

Other than hyper threading, any need for the i7? I'm still on a dual core, so will it drastically improve rendering or is it just for more boinc points?

I'm liking those two builds btw, I forgot about the nVidia advantages. Cheers for that. :)

I specced this to someone I know earlier, may as well post for you too look at, he had similar prerequisites.

Not sure what case you want, so just added that one in there. Go pick your own.

I guess you want one with a window to show off those fans ;)

Also, free delivery if you buy after making some more posts.

If it is normally £15 more, I'll keep it in mind. :)

@Locke: Damn sexy case... but £85.... *whistle*

+1 and then just add in a aftermarket cooler when you get a spare £20-30 and you got yourself a cracking machine!

Cheers for all your help. I got a 2tb drive lying around to I'll stick that in, saves £60. In your opinions: 460 or 470? 460 will cope with games in 2 years so should I save the money?

Upto you, both fast, but the GTX470 is faster (obviously:)) theres a £28 difference between them.
