The Darkness - What a load of shizzzzzzle!!

Loved it also, was like a hidden gem and didn't get as much recognition as it deserves.

Try cloudy with a chance of meatballs if you get bored

Ha I really enjoyed that! If you want a TRUELY DIRE game, you need to play Brave: A warriors tale. That was so bad there were several points where just running around I fell through the level!

Its a great game. Both it and Condemned are 2 of my favourite games, both were released early on in the 360s life cycle.

The Darkness was a bit boring to me, I only really finished out of obligation for the fact that I'd started. Too much about removing light sources to be able to activate powers, felt like I was playing splinter cell. As a result the whole game was a black/grey/brown mess, very unappealing.

Story was alright, but I didn't appreciate being told it walking-cinematic style.

The last encounter: Maybe as a mid-game gimmick but.. that was the finale? Come on..

Wouldn't compare it to the Condemneds myself, I loved those.

I really enjoyed it and found it very original. The removing light sources did get a bit annoying towards the end though.

The character goes mega slow, the shooting part of the game is crap, I keep dying because its crap. Boring crap. Dont get why so many people rave about it?

I am at a bit where police are surrounding the building and this helicopter keeps nailing me. And generally anyone who is infront of me kills me, such a high amount of crap is this game...

Rant over ;)

Sounds like you dont like it because your rubbish at it. I thought this was one of the best games of this generation. gutted it wasnt released on pc. Maybe you should just sell up and get a wii............

Sounds like you're just not very good at it. If this is the part near the beginning where you're trapped in a diner and all of the SWAT and helicopter show up, it did take me about 3 tries to get out of that. Got CANED the first time, but adapted and played it cool from there.

Later on, there's another part with a building full of SWAT and the helicopter starts attacking from a hole in the ceiling. By that time you should be powerful enough to handle it anyway. Tip for there: Hit the helicopter with a black hole. :)

Its a good game, but very old and its been surpassed now. As I recall by the end of the game I'd resorted to casting black hole on pretty much everything, then running back to the shadows to recharge before doing the exact thing again until everything was dead. The only time I even used the guns was to shoot out the lights.

Erm the game is decent and tells a great story...........maybe its just you thats "crap" at it:rolleyes:

I'm primarily a PC gamer and LOATHE anything FPS related on thumbsticks. I got the darkness really late on, too. I think just over a year ago.

I managed to get one of the best gaming experiences out of it I've had in quite some time. The script, acting, atmosphere, all made it feel like a living world that was easy to suspend disbelief in. The mix of mafia and supernatural made for some brilliant gameplay.

I did find it incredibly hard at first, but when I stopped trying to play it like Quake, ate some humble pie(cursing the stupid sticks!), and took it a bit slower and more cautiously, using Jackie's powers etc, it came into it's own.

If the devs said they were making a sequel, I would hurl my wallet at them. It's a game that I will genuinely enjoy playing again in the future.

It was good on release, I remember NokkonWud always going on about it. I can't imagine it being too innovative now though.
