Yeah it doesn't sound like an anytime soon statement.

Sony have probably been lucky that there has been no AAA multi-format titles released in the past week that would make people consider jumping ship (Portal 2 was released at the beginning and people assumed that the wait would be a short one). However there are a few interesting titles over the next couple of weeks : Brink, LA Noire, Dirt 3 etc. I had all these on pre-order and have already changed the order for Brink to the 360.

I'm pretty sure those who own both consoles would do the same but it's only a matter of time before others jump ship if this continues for much longer.

Yes, I changed Brink from PS3 to 360, too. Just in case.

And WTF has Sony Online Entertainment got to do with the PSN. I thought they were separate systems? :mad:

Thats one thing Sony will make sure of that they dont lose PSN, IF they were to lose PSN entirely well they would write themselves off for consols for a long time to come.

I dont know why any one thought it would be a week or even within and why Sony did baffles me a full network rebuild is going to take allot of time and even possible a month or more especially due to how much data they must have etc
 
Because if Sony announced that psn will be down for a month or more they know they would lose a shedload of customers. It's a balancing act to try and keep the userbase.
 
This would be the perfect time for MS to bring out a 1 month or even 2 month free XBL for new users.... why aint billy boy taking advantage - his opponent is on the canvas..you dont wait for him to get back up...you stick the boot in!!! :D

sony are doing a better job at pushing people towards xbox than microsoft ever could

Microsoft also confirmed that every new 360 comes with 3 free Xbox Live Gold trial accounts, upon creating a new account the player is allowed to claim a trial period upon refusing to pay for Gold subscription; therefore allowing the user to try online gameplay for that one month trial period, after which the player is required to pay subscription fees to continue matchmaking online.

Don't know how long it's been available, but you do get a free month with a new console (3 free months by the looks of it if you just create a new account after each month).

Tbh im going to pop into town and look at trade in deals tomorrow, this is takingthe biscuit, and the only thing il miss by not having a ps3 is a few exclusive game and blu-ray which i could buy at work if i really needed.

when your in there, ask them how many other people have traded in their ps3's in the past week, would be interesting to know.
 
Have they still not fixed this?

My mate had a right go at me for buying a 360, as he's a bit of a PS3 fanboy. One of his arguments was that you have to pay for Live on the 360. Clearly you get what you pay for.
 
Yeah, the biggest thing for the Sony camp was free online play, it wasn't as good as Xbox Live but looks like they were actually offering a free service with little support, I bet every PS3 owner would loved to of paid £2/3 a month for xbox live service, at least it would have been more secure.
 
How do you know MS is more secure? Thats just assuming it is cause its paid for so if it gets hacked one day that point is out of the window. I have a 360 also but i still dont agree with paying to play the game i just bought online. I don't care for early access to demos tbh or discount arcade titles the only good part of gold is party chat.

Also i doubt every owner would want to pay £2/3 a month for a more secure service it should be secure regardless of it being paid for or not when it holds the data it did.
 
Well its happened, I presume MS would use secure servers, they have banned a lot of people from Xbox live, sued people and they have never been hacked.
 
Yea, but maybe paying for it would cause them to actually care about the service and offer us more. Instead, the probably look at it as a luxary for us because its free and think we deserve everything we get. Saying that, even if we did pay for it and it got hacked then that throws everything out the window.
