Basically I noticed windows time not updating about 2 days ago, and now i keep getting a message when pc is booting.

The message reads

"AMD Data Change - Update New Data to DMI"

Any ideas? Am I right in thinking its the battery?

Edit: Forgot to add bios settings are staying the same.

Ok this is rarely *(&% me off now. So far I have tried 2 batterys. I have narrowed it down a little tho. it only happens when i switch my pc off at the plug socket. Anyone have any ideas before i go bald?

Take the board out of your system and just run the bare components and try it then, take everything out that isnt a requirement to eradicate any of them parts being/causing the fault. Also try swapping different parts (if you have access to them) like the CPU, RAM or the GPU? Maybe the PSU also??

I Google'd and found a few things to try:

- In the BIOS look for a setting called Update ESCD, disable it.
- Did you install new hardware recently? Apparently it is shown when something new is installed (again, apparently)..
- Update the BIOS.
- Also apparently this is normal after bios changes, an update, cmos reset or major changes to system but it should only appear once, not on every boot..

Worth a try....

Never thought of Updating the Bios, thats a good check

Bios have been latest ones for over a year. I recently installed a new psu XFX Black Edition 750W altho not sure if started before or after installation. Cannot find ESCD anyware.

"AMD Data Change - Update New Data to DMI" has stopped.

Just time wont keep its driving me nuts. BTW tried 3 batteries.

Ok tested my old PSU. Working fine so looks like the XFX is the cause grr. Will be a pain in rear to get an rma. As the psu runs everything but the motherboard dont like it. Its only 14 days old.(btw never got it from overclockers).

Edit:
Ok just made a little progress. I placed the PSU in one of my other PC's and it seems to be working fine. So now I am very confused.

So far tried the below

Changing motherboard battery.
Changed bios settings (including under clocking and under volting)
Tried my old PSU (Antec) it worked fine
Tried the XFX in another system worked fine.

Anything else I can try.

Something I have noticed altho not sure if happened with my old psu.
When doing a cold boot the pc starts stops then starts properly.

A round up
So far I have tried.
1. Different gpu, different ram, different CPU, different hard drives and cd drives.
2. Tried running the system with unnecessary hardware.
3. Tried a different PSU (the system worked fine with no problems).
4. Tried different motherboard batteries.
5. Tried resetting bios and motherboard battery.
6. Updated motherboard bios.
7. Tried the PSU in another system (it worked fine).
8. Changed just about every bios setting on my motherboard
9. Tried undervolting and underclocking my hardware

I have resorted to using my old Antec PSU as tbh I have tested everything I possibly could and am out of ideas. Everything points to the XFX PSU so decided to stop using it. Sadly this is a waste of £100 as it is only 2 weeks old. The fact that the PSU works in other systems means I wont get an RMA for it.XFX support confirmed this also.
