I normally get 16-18Mb/s down and about 1Mb/s up, but today I can barely load ocuk with images turned off. Is there any way of checking for known issues with O2/my exchange?

Cheers.

Log in to the router page and check the sync speed.

Login to http://192.168.1.254
Then click on broadband connection on the left,
Under dsl connection it will show the sync speed,

Code:
Uptime:	8 days, 19:20:19
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:	1,295 / 20,362
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [GB/MB]:	2.13 / 92.83

If the sync speed is ok might be a thoughput issue,
Check there service status page to see if there is any issues

o2 Service status

If its all ok turn the router off for 5 mins then back on and run a speed test fron the london server.

Uptime: 0 days, 16:09:21
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,308 / 19,326
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 104.14 / 700.24

Looks like my regular bandwidth.

Thanks for the useful post, I'm blaming the router (O2 Thompson III)... it's a load of rubbish. My DGN2000 died and since then I've had a few issues (such as 360's/laptops not being assigned IP addresses randomly) :(

I have had the O2 Thompson II and O2 Thomson VI
Gotta say i like the VI with the usb ports for network access to usb hard drives,

Hope you get sorted soon

mine has been slow all morning going from 8/9mb to 0.2mb look's like it could be a problem for the westmidlands

Joy...

So now my laptop can access the net wirelessly, but one of my wired 360's (I have 2) cannot. I also cannot access the router via 192.168.1.254 despite many reboots, including leaving it off for 10 minutes.

I'm on Be* (same LLU network). It's working fine at the moment but previously it's been very slow. However, I've diagnosed it in my case as the router overheating.

The connection speed is high, like the previous posters, but the router is scalding hot. Aiming a desk fan at it & turning it upside down to expose the cooling vents to the airflow restored a good speed within about a minute. After a few more minutes the router was coolish rather than hot; solved :)

Give it a go!

No problems here but I am not on a proper package with O2 any more since moving house so I am now stuck with the crappy access package which sucks!
