So i was casually gaming, minding my own business and about to get a triple kill (darn it!) and my PC suddenly went into total lockdown, Ctrl+alt+del wouldnt work, just completely froze. So i looked at my LCD poster (RoG) while i waited and suddenly saw my CPU rocket from 44C to 62C in a matter of seconds!

1055T @ 4Ghz
Corsair H50
Antec 1200
(temps usually idle 36-38c, load 44c, hits 47C MAX on prime 95) so what the heck happened?!!?

My BIOS is programmed by me to automatically shut down if the CPU breaks 60C but it was nowhere near that?! and if thats what it did why didnt it shut down? it crashed..

Any ideas? :S

After I saw it I buttoned the PC immediately until it went off and left it off for a min while i watched the temps go down, turned it back on with every single case fan (including both push and pull fans on the H50 Rad) to max and its fine now.. the pump is fine and every fan is fine. Keeping a serious eye on my temps at the moment.

so what was the problem? did you find the reason?

The only thing I think it could have been is either the vcore going crazy (which i doubt) or the fact that it just overheated. The overclock is stable because I've had it for months and never had the problem on prim95, idle, gaming, etc. probably just got a little too hot :/
