Shoot with Girl

Love the 2nd image... Looks like an album cover !

I've added a little "blacks" to it in LR2 - hope you don't mind... It just seems to make her face 'pop'

Deffo too bright on my home monitor (NEC 20wGX2).

The first two it works fine although I'd be tempted to remove the little big of background, on the last ones it makes the background quite distracting.

Still, a nice concept. I think you just need to tweak it a bit more :)

Cheers for that :) I might go back and tweak it a bit and just bring the exposure down a tad

It doesnt look too bad with the side darkened a bit, maybe not so strong, but still having that faded overlay white wash over it, but thats cool :)

I agree, picture 2 is my favourite as well - it seems such a natural, relaxed shot and has a bit of a 'spur of the moment' capture about it which i really like. I personally would prefer to see her not blend into the background so much but i appreciate the style.

I think I know what the problem is, I just had a look back at my originals and it seems like that I have not saved them with sRGB embedded on them which they seem super washed out! Opened up my PSD file and the color is much warmer when I compared the ones Ive uploaded. Stupid me.

Resaving them now, will upload to my website later :)

Edit: It seems like it doesnt do anything, as its Browser Color Profile thats making it look really washed out. Just tried it on Safari, the colors are warmer and actually shows the orangey tint that the picture I had given it and less faded. Opera on the other hand is quite faded, shows no warm color nor the tint that I have given it. Safari is close to what Photoshop is giving me which actually has warmer colors but Safari also shows it way too tinted with the orange color.

Testing with the same image with using Color Profile and embedded SRGB 1966.21 in the JPG, so, whatever you guys are seeing I dont think we're all seeing the same colors depending on your browser youre using. Even on my website, its not showing what I saved, but if I look at the JPG itself direct linked without going through my site, it goes back to being closer to how I had saved it?!!

Anyone has a clue?

Edit2: Did a quick Google and this is what it says about Safari and Preview. http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/safari/topic2922.html

Safari does not fully support color profiles. Internet Explorer does. Go to any decent digital camera review site and open a sample image in both I.E. and Safari. In I.E. make sure that Explorer Menu: Preferences: Web Content: Use ColorSync is checked. Note the different look of the image in the two browsers. Safari is not using the sRGB profile to display the image, Internet Explorer is.
Safari can be forced to use the proper profile. Download the image. In 10.4.1 open the image in Preview. In the Tools menu go to Assign Profile. Choose the sRGB profile instead of the currently chosen Generic RGB Profile. Note the change in the image. Drop the file on Safari and now it will display properly.
How can you tell that sRGB is the proper color profile for the image? Drop the image on a program such as EXIF viewer.
If you are looking at sample digital camera images online I suggest you use Internet Explorer. Safari is incapable of using the correct color profile when displaying unmodified digital camera images. This is true of Apple's Preview and iPhoto programs as well.

So yea. Dont think Ill be using Safari from now on to see the difference in my images, since it wont be give a proper read out of sRGB since it uses the Generic RGB profile on default, which is quite annoying. So if youre using Firefox I have no clue what the color profiles are on that, but Opera seems to be doing a good job despite it does show it a little faded for some colors. Will try Chrome and see what the difference is.

Edit3:

Compared Safari, Opera and Chrome at the same time and they both show different colors. No embedded profile on jpeg

Stumbled across this old thread, hope you got your monitor calibrated ok.
These are pretty nice images imo, but way over exposed. I think you could have probably used a small'ish reflector to balance out the differences in light intensity, so the hair doesn't bleach into the sky.

Below is my attempt at rescuing the blown highlights, but still maintain a 'washed out' look.
It's not perfect, especially from a small Jpg, but I think it's a small improvement at least.

Yea, I managed to get my monitor calibrated a while ago and actually reedited these pictures. If you go on my website you can see it there, I haven't got them resized for forum though :)

Let me know about what you think of the new edits too :)
