Well I finally have 2 days off work to do my assignment (Tuesday)

Task.

Experiment with perspective to find the most affective viewpoint and improve composition of your images.

I've had an idea of going to a car dealer (Audi/Mercs) and ask em if I can take a few shots of their top model cars etc. Other than that I can't think of any other objects that would wow me apart from portraits which I can do of the gf at 4-5pm today.

Affective viewpoint; get down and low for something like this?

Different view point where people don't usually register like these experimental shots I did at a shopping mall:

The important thing is compose and wait till something that will stand out comes into view then SNAP!

What's your idea of photo shoot on top car models? Viewing it flat on type of idea?

Thanks Mr Jones

Well I had a few viewpoints in mind that id like to take of cars , above , side, maybe use some macro on the fine details (logo etc) just odd angles which id never thought of taking really.

for portraits I've never used a ladder to take a shot from above with a subject looking up etc.

Not quite sure about the cars idea but as long as you can shoot what you've envisage, I'm sure you'll do fine. Here's a few portrait from the top - I personally never thought about it till you mention a ladder (used it for weddings group shot but never individual portrait)

Here's some I flickr search and thought might help (I had too much coffee, too much energy!)

And I think best out of what I've found:

Looks like symmetry is key to the composition.

nice images Jones :) for sure loads of symmetry going on with the woman figure :P
not sure the gf would approve of doing a shot like the last one ..lol.

Interesting video; although I am not so sure about the "heat/red" processing effect. :p

Mp4, my set here http://www.flickr.com/photos/42317544@N04/sets/72157624578320026/ probably has a few photos of what you are trying to do? Think I understand what you mean, but I think what Colin is suggesting is more appropriate in terms of creative viewpoints and composition.

Edit: Just had a thought about inspiration. Have you considered architecture: http://www.flickr.com/groups/unusual_views_and_perspectives/pool/ ?

For the task we have to get a wow factor and do diffrent angles wich might be missed by beginners. We can choose any subject we want

going to take pics of the gf in 10min's

Well the photos didn't turn out as would have liked in my mind.

This is an annoying task :P

Post some up:)

How are you taking them? Don't take any at eye level. Try and replicate the ones mr jones posted up, shallow depth of field might help. Can you make a composite image? You could have an image of you gf from the top standing on the edge of a building for instance, ready to jump.

Some where taken at eye level, I stood on a ladder (4ft) , and then laid on the ground looking up at her.

And I was using 50mm as at the time this was the only lens that would let enough light in without camera shake.

I like the idea of standing on the edge of something.

Decided not to post photos as they are standard.
