Should I buy an iPhone 4?

This is why Apple trumps Google for me.

They keep it consistent which is why you get a superb experience.

Fragmentation is hurting Android IMO.

I bought an iPhone 4 recently as I was able to get a one year contract on it, whereas the Android phones I was considering all had minimum 18 month or two year contracts.

There's no way I'd get tied into two years again - by the time my present contract expires the iPhone 5 will have been out a few months and my current phone should still be worth a decent amount.

I just sold my 10 month old unlocked iPhone 4 16GB black for £390 excluding delivery costs elsewhere which tells me that Apple mobile products hold their value over anything Android mobiles can offer.

I would only consider an iPhone 4 now if you can get it on a short contract (12 months).

2 year contracts on iPhones only work if you get one close to the launch date of a model so you can buy every other model. I wouldn't want to be stuck with an iphone 4 when 6 is released!

Just buy the iPhone4, it's a great phone. There is little point in waiting. Nobody on this forum knows what specs the next model will have, or even when it will be released so there is little point in discussion. I personally think we'll see the same resolution screen, maybe more storage and the A5 CPU...

If the next model does come out in the next few months and you "have to" upgrade, just buy the handset sim free, and sell yours on for not much loss at all.

That's exactly the point - none of us do! But why advise someone to get an iPhone4 when the new one could be out in a few weeks and Apple have improved upon previous gen every single release.

You misunderstand, Wireless Hotspot is included in iOS 4.3 and above and allows you to use your iPhone similar to a wireless router, allowing other devices to connect to it and share its 3G.

Existing O2 customers can also switch from their old tariff to a new one mid contract.

I'm paying £37 vs £35.74 and get tethering and 20MMS included.

Is that for o2 contracts only? The mrs has an iPhone 4 on three and doesn't have that feature.

It's configured by the carrier file so it can be enabled or disabled by your operator.

Does her phone have a "tethering" option at all in network setting?

For new O2 contracts as of a few weeks ago. No idea if 3 do it or not but if they do, it'd only have began a month ago when 4.3 was released.

had a 3g/3gs was not overly keen, had a Blackberry/Nokias since then got bored of Nokias bugs/slowness and i broke my Blackberry.

Got a new iphone 4 love it never thought about going back since

You can switch mid contract to the new tariffs too

You don't have to renew or extend your contract. As long as the new price is the same or higher than the old you can change.

Tethering is free with the Three network, you just need to enable it via the settings menu - it's now called personal hotspot.

Allows you to connect up to 5 devices to it via BT or wifi sharing its internet connection.

All of the other networks (other than o2 recently) charge extra for tethering, e.g. if you're on Orange and you attempt to turn on personal hotspot you get a pop up prompt telling you to call customer services.

Because the press are speculating that a new one won't be out in a few weeks, more likely to be later in the year (Maybe September), if not beyond. The White iPhone4 has only just been released, if a new model was weeks away this would not have been released and marketed.

Makes no difference to me either way, but if the op needs/wants one now, buy one - else you could be waiting another 4 months at least for an updated model.

The iPhone 4 is not bettered by the Nexus S, the Nexus S is pretty poor on the whole.

The Galaxy S II is superb but the app store still isn't there.
