Is this a shed?

I didn't really look at that car, but I just posted it 'cause it's BMW used and approved :D
And, I am the DON!
LOL, but nope, if my dad were to get a car, which he was because he didn't want to deal with the clutch problem, I would have just kept the Astra for a few more months. But that cost him only £340 and the car is still going strong, be it at 200k!

So he wants to get me one I'd be comfortable in :D

Then don't waste your money on a £6k BMW.

Get something small all be it nice. Look at alternative cars that will not make you spend loads on being run. Cars can be a money pit, and they don't really give you anything back apart from pleasure of owning a certain/model and drive ability.

It's not summer hols yet and we are already being flooded by these sorts of posts!

LOL, all right all right..
Thanks a lot.
I'm done.

Edit: One more lol
I know this is 8 years old too, but it's BMW used and approved!

Or is this rubbish too?

Thats just the ticket for you!

Suits your needs perfectly, has a BMW Warranty, BMW History and will be from a BMW dealer.

The price is of no concern as your not paying, so why the Hell not?

530i which is much more don like , newer, less miles, & cheaper too! ;)

:rolleyes::p

If you are genuinely recommending me that, then I'd say I prefer Manual, i've only drove manual for 3 months and I don't wanna lose the hang of it so soon.

That's a bit too much. And the running costs would be even more exaggerated, not to mention that I probably won't be able to get insured on it.

520i on the other hand, well.........

It's worth remembering that jjustme stated he's 6'9". As an average height bloke I can't imagine it's fun trying to fold himself into the usual "just passed my test" disposable cheap-to-run small car.

OK, so there's better options than an old Beemer. There have to be some 6'4"+ guys here on OcUK, so what other options can they suggest?

Thank you :D:D

Sure I'm genuinely recommending that to you.

You won't forget how to operate pedals, its quite easy, just use whats there.

Two's plenty, trust me.

If you did not get laid for 10 years (assuming you have!) would you say you would forget how to do it?

Naah. :p

I'm 6'3" & 18 Stone btw, you'll fit.

W210 Merc E class or Transit Van. Only things that can be made comfortable for me.

Transit van did cross my mind!

Company car market killed off the large non-prestige cars too long ago. Something like a Omega/Granada would probably been quite appropriate in this case. Can't imagine the OP would want a people mover...

(I hope I haven't got Joshy logic at this point haha)

Listen here. 'Joshy logic' might not make sense to certain people but there is always some degree of method to my madness. I take it as a bit of an insult that some 17 year old kid with dreams of his daddy buying him some sheddy £6,000 BMW for getting him to college and back. And what seems to be the main justification? Because it is bigger than Mondeo, when in reality it isn't.

Seriously, I'm surprised that this thread has been given the legs that it has. At the best he's a guy who completely oblivious to the real world and refuses to listen to anyone who is trying to show it, or at the worst he's yet another dreamer.

Your old man put you in a MK4 astra for £340 for Christ sake. Is he aware that you're planing on asking him for more than 20 times that amount for your next car? Why do you still not process the sort of running costs involved with such a car? As mentioned if you think the £400 you were quoted for a warranty is a lot you're going to be in one hell of a surprise.

I guess we were all kids with wild dreams and imaginations at one point or another. Enjoy it while you can because when reality strikes it'll be like being hit with a tonne of bricks :)

Motors is its own worst enemy at times when you have people seriously suggesting things to children/twoblacklines in a thread like this, blimey :p

Sorry if that offended you. I said that because I was afraid someone was going to mention it, thought i'd beat them to it :D

And this astra was not bought for me at all, I only have it because my bro goes to uni in a train now and this car just sat out front not being used at all.. now that i'm using it, i need something bigger and am looking for that.

He didn't put in the astra for £340's sake, he did because he thought if the repair bill of what could potentially have been the DMF would have been so much in proportion to the car's value, that he'd have got a another car for now, and i'd have to wait a few months (grace period for the new car not immediately throwing up big bills).

Edit: Yes he is aware, but the cars around the 10k mark my parents are showing me are people movers, not something I want.

I see, so you've not actually approached the idea of an old BMW with your Dad yet? Classic :D

I have, but my mum(mainly) is still suggesting people carriers. Or is this unbelievable?

Why would your parents suggest a people carrier for their 17 year old son?

Sounds more like they're buying a car for themselves to me :p
