What's a good 5.1 headset for $150 max?

See title. I considered the Razer Megalodon, as I have had nothing but good experiences with them so far, but it's USB, meaning my soundchip is left gathering dust, while I read that USB sound takes up CPU power. Anyone got a good suggestion, or know if USB vs analogue is a huge difference?

Does your sound card support CMSS-3D/Dolby Headphone?

If so, get a very good stereo headset that will produce far better surround sound using the aforementioned platforms than 5.1 headsets.

It's not just about positional sound though, it's about quality of sound as well. You have to pay a premium to get a headset that will offer a certain level of sound quality, which can be had from cheaper headphones. Goldring DR150's are a great example at £50. A £50 headset wont come close to offering the same level of sound quality.

Agreed. While my PC360's are a clear step up from the DR150's (especially for the all important sound stage and mids) they're not £60 better.

My PC360's just arrived today. I was using the PC166 for years.

They are some improvement i must say. I am hearing sounds in games i never heard before :)
