I bought a HIS 6950 not so long ago after running the driver disc through i've updated all my drivers and started to notice when playing black ops it will be running at 60 fps seamlessly with no interruptions then blue screen. I'm thinking its overheating but I was wondering if someone with a greater knowledge of pc's could help me?

Thanks

Hi there, Would you be able to tell us the full specs of your PC?

First thing I should ask is are your currently running the most recent 11.4 graphics drivers?

Also, can you confirm that both 6pin PCIE power connections are installed in the graphics card from the PSU?

If so then I would suggest running a GPU stress test (furmark is good), run the torture test, wait for the temperature to level off and leave it for a few minutes. If it does this without throwing up any errors then your GPU is pretty solid.

Next step would be to test the CPU. Run a stress tester like a Intel Burn Test or OCCT (or ideally both, but not at the same time).

Gigabyte motherboard don't know exactly what one, 8gb's of corsair ram 1600mhz, amd x4 955 overclocked to 3.61, i don't know if im running the most recent 11.4 graphics drivers and with 6 pin i haven't a clue. My GPU has been fine since i installed this new graphics card, the CPU has never been an issue, i'm pretty sure its the graphics card.

Ok, you should check immediately whether you plugged in two 6pin power connectors into the graphics card from the power supply. If they are not connected then your graphics card isn't receiving enough power and would almost certainly crash when playing games.

If you don't connect them a buzzer will sound so it's pretty safe to assume they are connected.

You could use GPU-z and have it log temperatures to file. When you crash you can then open the log file and see the temps that it failed on. You can also use MSI afterburner to log temps to screen, although it will only show you the one GPU temp.

Never use bundled drivers for cards though, always grab the latest from AMD.

650W but i just opened my pc up to find wires from the power supply preventing the processor fan to spin I believe I have fun my problem and I haven't flashed my card

If it doesn't turn out to be that, and you're running MSI Afterburner, disable it before playing. When playing BF:BC2 I found Punkbuster would lock my system if I have the msi on screen display turned on.

I've no idea if Black Ops uses Punkbuster but worth a try.
