Heed the words of a rabid Andriod fanboy.
I might own an Android but I'm a regular user of all 3 major smartphone vendors and administer them 5 days a week.

Second hand San Francisco is what i'd likely aim for.
Though (/braces himself) you'll need to put research into flashing it onto 'good' firmware. Tis really easy, there's a guide posted in the mobiles section.
I wouldn't have a clue if you could obtain an iOS smartphone for that price point if i'm honest.

I could, I don't own an Iphone or Droid but I don't approve of apple locking it down from day one.
It's the whole attitude that some companies have that annoys me, someone should not have to break into it so that they can modify it.
When I first saw this 'if you don't have an iphone' advert on TV, it annoyed the hell out of me - it still does. It's so pretentious and pretty much sums up the snob attitude that people who have such items adopt.
That doesn’t stop you from being an Android fanboy.![]()
Your viewpoint might be that, but my lack of posting the latest iPhone news doesn't really make me any kind of fanboy but even if I were a fanboy I'd be much happier being an Android fanboy than iPhone/Blackberry/Windows Mobile.
Wow, that's an amazing Ace Ventura impression!
Talking out of his arse.
Well, products that can't be modified are boring. There is not a better feeling than modifying a device to allow it to perform a whole new function, buying a product does not even compare to it.
In this day and age, tech should be modifiable. Not locked down, one example of me adding functionality to a product is by installing custom firmware on a foxsat.
Well it's true.
"If you don't have an iphone........./smug well then you don't have an iphone (har har har im so superior to you)"
