If you don't have an iPhone...

Second hand San Francisco is what i'd likely aim for.

Though (/braces himself) you'll need to put research into flashing it onto 'good' firmware. Tis really easy, there's a guide posted in the mobiles section.

This, unless you want a 'dumbphone'.

I wouldn't have a clue if you could obtain an iOS smartphone for that price point if i'm honest.

I highly doubt it unless you can find an original iPhone somewhere, cheap.

I could, I don't own an Iphone or Droid but I don't approve of apple locking it down from day one.

It's the whole attitude that some companies have that annoys me, someone should not have to break into it so that they can modify it.

You have to break into android phones to modify it, but no one cares when it's android.

eesh, just having a look at phones on phones 4 u and it's apparent how much of a fashion accessory phones are, as most of them have, "The compact sleek design goes extremely easy on the eyes so there is definitely no embarrassment factor with this phone" or something along those lines in the description - as if people are scared of being ridiculed because of their phone.

When I first saw this 'if you don't have an iphone' advert on TV, it annoyed the hell out of me - it still does. It's so pretentious and pretty much sums up the snob attitude that people who have such items adopt.

Wow, that's an amazing Ace Ventura impression!

Talking out of his arse.

That doesn’t stop you from being an Android fanboy. ;)

Your viewpoint might be that, but my lack of posting the latest iPhone news doesn't really make me any kind of fanboy but even if I were a fanboy I'd be much happier being an Android fanboy than iPhone/Blackberry/Windows Mobile.

I don't think you're really much of a fanboy. For example, you wouldn't try and push an Android phone on someone when it was clear to you they would get on better with an iPhone.

Well, products that can't be modified are boring. There is not a better feeling than modifying a device to allow it to perform a whole new function, buying a product does not even compare to it.

In this day and age, tech should be modifiable. Not locked down, one example of me adding functionality to a product is by installing custom firmware on a foxsat.

unlocking the iphone so you can modify it is literally 3 clicks away

infact its exactly as easy as rooting an android phone

lots of fools in this thread though

theres nothing that would have ever persuaded me to get an iphone3 but theres nothing that will persuade me to get rid of my iphone4 , does everything i want and does it well all while looking and feeling like the premium price kit that it is

Well it's true.

"If you don't have an iphone........./smug well then you don't have an iphone (har har har im so superior to you)"

That is Apple saying that, not their users. Also, its just an advert, most of them are ****ing annoying.

Being an owner of 2 of the large brand smartphones i cant believe people still argue over which is the best and so forth , who really gives a damn , yeah there are people out there that will only buy a certain brand because of the so called statue that comes with the brand .

I buy cos 1 i like the phone and 2 it does what i need it to do regardless of what name or logo it has on it

Yeah, it's an advert. It's not a fair representation of the user base.

I've never heard anybody act like that in real life. It seems to be something that users of other operating systems appear to have made up.

Your lack of posting on the latest iPhone doesn’t mean you’re not a fanboy. Really, who are you trying to kid, we all know you are and worst ones are the ones who deny it. :D

Basically, only gays use or want an iPhone. It's that simple. Guidos, use iPhones.

Oh, and the white iPhone 4 is thicker than the black one, which is random.s

Screw smartphones, I want one of these.

Coming from the guy who buys Android memorabilia and takes 47372793 photos of things with not so subtle placement of his phone included.

You're the biggest, geekiest Android fanboy I've seen.. Sorry to say.
