Washing machine disaster

Will upload a pic to explain it a bit better soon, but, long story short:

My brother had my washing machine and I've moved in to a new house and had the machine back, however the seal that is up against the door is split, no idea how. There is a small amount of water that leaks out of the door now, any ideas on how to fix it?

Wow I was expecting a massive flood. A split rubber around the door... errr.... get a new one? You pick up the phone tomorrow with your model number on hand, and speak to your local parts dealer for a new one. Will not cost a lot.

I'm not paying for a whole new seal if I don't have to... Fitting would be a right pain.

And no, not really a disaster but I am really annoyed at my brother.

You could try fixing it with a bike innertube repair patch & Glue?!?!? Might work if you apply it well?!?

Melt the bits together with a hot knife. << LAST RESORT, but i dont see why it wouldnt work

just replace the seal. These things are meant to be replaced, they do wear out. You dont buy a new car when it's tyres wear out.

That's not what he wants to do. Using your analogy he wants to fix a puncture rather than buy a new tyre.

waste of time fixing it. It'll only break again, just do the job properly.
