If you don't have an iPhone...

When it comes to adverts it the ads for feminine hygiene products that irritates me. WTF are there so many of them and why so many damn ads for the same ****?

If I had all day to try and find what I can do with a phone, the I'm sure that Android would be the far better choice, but I don't get that time.

I guarantee that if you bought an Android you will be able to call, text and go on the internet straight out of the box.
I must admit that looking at these forums make it's look like an Android phone is a blank piece of canvas you have to build up yourself but it's not so.
Both my wife and daughter have a San Francisco and no modding at all has been done to them.
Last night I was comparing my Darky's 9.5 modded SGS with my mates un-modded one and the difference was negligible.

I quite like my iPhone.

Really stable, never crashes, which is what you want from a phone.

I did try jailbreaking it also, but this seemed to make it slow and unstable, which is a bit of a shame as I liked some of the extra tweaks you could do, but it was far from problem free. I can see why apple ship the phones in a 'locked down' state.

So I've gone back to an un-jailbroken iphone for now. If a jailbroken phone was more reliable I'd probably stay with the jailbreak.

Still, that ad is a little silly, but then again most ads are stupid and I skip thru them usually... :p

google tried to make a similar advert but when demoing the camera on a HTC the photos looked out of focus , when demoing GPS on the galaxy S it just didn't work , when demoing media capabilities on the X10 the album art lagged , demoing the screen on the nexus it looked pink and then when demoing anything at all on an LG the handset fell apart in their hands

trolling but do you get my point ? until now and the galaxy S2 then there has always 'something' thats just wrong. apple fix things much much quicker from my little experience , and obviously this is because they dont have to cover so many different hardware specs

Did they ever fix the alarm clock issue?

I've had many friends who are gullible apple fanboys who said hey look at my new i-phone 4 it has gps and a app store,oh so do i on android,oh:confused: really.

The problem is when Apple take it upon themselves to declare that it's "illegal" to Jailbreak iPhones.

In the USA it's no longer illegal as a bill was passed for this in 2010. No idea in the EU though.

I think the majority of people outside of 'techies', who buy an iPhone is because of and for of Apps. Since Apple has managed to make an app store so popular (games and utilities etc) and advertise that so well that's what joe public are attracted too. Not so much form and function, although Apple will always be about form and function, the easy of use is key as well.

Android is just far too configurable for non-techies, regardless if you believe it is or not, I know my sister for instance would not know of different ROMS or UI's, which most 'techies' talk about here and elsewhere with regards to Android. My sister just knows how to unlock her iPhone, text, purchase apps and play them, the intricacy ends there.

That doesn't really hold up though anymore.

Lets say you're a generic tech-dumb tart, and you go and buy a HTC Incredible S. The way it is setup out of the box is more than fine, you might just want to move a few shortcuts around the same way you would on an iPhone.

You dont have to customise anything, and you dont have to have any idea what a ROM is, it all works absolutely fine.

Having said that, if you dont bother with the settings on Android, you might as well have an iPhone and have the superior app store. The only factor other than that is the price, if you're going for a contract, those better apps are going to cost you.

Which apps are these?

There are plenty, many of the company made official apps aren't available on Android yet, but you can substitute that with the browser fairly well.

Well there are an awful lot of women out there wearing them. ;) They're all the same because there is a limited number of ways you can plug a hole. :D

I don't make enough money to even afford the Apple iNvoice the iPhone is sent with.

Good job I don't want a smartphone, I guess :p

I own a san fan and desire which does me fine, it has the extra applications I want and lets me have a change to get techie. The only thing appealing to me on the iphone are the games but then I would never really have time for it.

I do find it funny however that you need to convert .mov files to play them on an iPhone :D
