Advice on graphics card

Hi, basically need a new graphics card as my one just keep crashing for some strange reason saying driver error (blue screen) won't even allow me to start up windows now. When it does I have tried every driver out there to get it working and still won't do anything, it is only working now in safe mode :-/

I just need to know if I'm able to install a ATI card on my machine and if so which graphics card should I go for?

My graphic card ATM is a 8800 GTX and from a Dell XPS 720 computer, I think it's a nvidia motherboard if that is any help.

I've been looking at these:
ATI Radeon HD 5770
ATI Radeon HD 5850 Extreme
OcUK GeForce GTX 550Ti
Gigabyte GeForce GTS 450 OC
OcUK GeForce GTS 450 1024MB

If there is any better I am able to install on my machine in the 100ish price range please suggest it!

Thank you!

This is a bargain - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-258-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1711

The 5850 at £107 is also great, heres a comparison between the two - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/171?vs=164

Do you have a decent PSU for this?

And yes you can install any card from either ATI or Nvidia, you just need to remove the other drivers using driver cleaner/sweeper and then installing the new card and drivers for it.

Thanks for the fast reply! The PSU says 750w max output on the side, as it's a dell I can't tell you the make of it if that helps.

it sounds ok, its even a better dell than. their usual home pcs, so all you need to do is decide between the 5830, 5850

but the 5850 is the fastest by some way from the ones you listed, so is a no brainer

Well it is a gaming spec pc just 3 and a half years old :p

Which card would you go for? It doesn't really matter I guess because any of them will be an upgrade over the 8800 GTX.

Edit:
Woops just got your last edit thanks!
