Best phone for £200

My mate is looking for a new android phone for around £200 but will stretch to £230 if necessary. He'll need an o2 phone or simfree will do. He doesn't really care about the quality of the camera.

what are his options?

Any of the snapdragon (both 65/45nm variants) TI OMAP36x0 or Hummingbird phones will do. There's usually a few deals going on (e.g. Tesco recently had the Dell streak for £200, or refurbished phones)

There's also the LG Optimus 7 for £215. WP7 is very great if he just needs a basic smartphone http://www.expansys.com/lg-optimus-7-204875/

If he's technically OK then a galaxy S, Desire HD/Z, possibly a galaxy SII (it would be worth the extra ton). If he prefers simpler pleasures then a WinPhone 7 device.

I'm probably biased (owning one myself), but for that price you might as well get a orange san fransisco and save yourself £100, the specs are similar after all.

The Dell Streak is definitely worth a look - it got bad reviews when it came out because the stock ROM was terrible, but shove a custom ROM on it and it's awesome. Didn't really take off over here, so they can easily be had for £200, sometimes less if you shop around.
