GTX 480 SLI

excuse me but as title suggest he needs 480 sli

i have 2 480 in sli and on stock all pc needs about 650
after oc 800
min he needs 850 psu to handle normally 480 sli

my 480SLI is on a HX850w.

i have had 480SLI running on a TX750 before [folding 24/7 for a month]
the supply struggled along but managed it. the fan was on full tilt for a lot of the time.

you need to be looking at 800W+ on one of the high end brands.
doing SLI on the cheap is never a good idea. buy a good psu.

Whilst you can easily get away with and 850w I would recommend going the step further and getting a 1kw PSU as this will futureproof you and also protect from extreme capacitor ageing!?

The HX850 is about £140 but I got my Silverstone ST1000-P from a competitor for £155inc (i get free delivery :D - it's not hard!).

EDIT: The ST1000-P is £140. (80+ silver)
The ST1000-G is £175 (80+ gold)

Really is a shame OcUK don't stock these

Thing I am finding with Corsair is they are getting ridiculous price wise, I am also considering 480sli but don't think I am paying corsair prices as they are at the moment, have been looking at PSU's myself and the XFX P1-850S-NLB9 850W Power Supply seems decent and can be had for less than £80

how 'bout Silverstone?

well I haven't looked at them at all but from your post above they seem over priced by quite a lot.

really? They're the cheapest 1kw's I found from a brand I could trust. the 850w are around £90 IIRC and they are 100% modular which is something I would happily pay extra for anyday.

Well I'm just comparing against the xfx 850w which can be had for £72 ish on line, is 150W more worth nearly double the price? I do think they are over charging for PSU's nowadays.
