PC dead D:

Yip sounds like the mobo has had it, I did suspect this to be so.

You just need to decide wether to replace or take this opportunity to do an upgrade.

I'd say the mb has gone to heaven by the sounds of it..

indeed im gonna have a trip down to a pc shop (as much as i dislike the place) and see what they got. gonna try get an am3 motherboard, cpu and ram

For the love of god don't go there.....you will be shafted! And I'm sure forum rules dictate that other retailers can't be mentioned you may want to remove that bit quick ;)

Good luck, any others woes give us a shout

I was just about to say I don't know why you are buying from a local store. Wether it was because you dont have a card that will allow purchases online or if u are desperate to get it going.

Believe you me the local store will be more expensive and your choice of parts is limited...hell that's if they even have stock :P

*edit* I would suggest you use this week to have a think about what you want. Ask a few members for some spec advice, im not sure about OCs deliveries but with the etailer i use if i miss the delivery they leave it at my local post office. I collect from there once im back from work. Maybe someone can clarify the situation

Just been out and bought the phenom 2 x2 550, 4gb of ddr3 and a motherboard that supports unlocking the extra 2 cores on the 550. now to reinstall windows + everything -.-

Thanks for the help :)

I did that with the 555BE. If you want to unlock the cores use an aftermarket heatsink. The stock heatsink was only intended for the dual cores, there is a big difference between the 550/555 heatsink and the quadcore 955 heatsinks for example.

*edit* Forgot to say good luck with the build and there is no guarantee u will get the extra cores but you will grin if you get more than you paid for ;)
