Heads up about this, only heard about it today.

Jackpot for Tue 10 May 2011 is: £85,000,000*

 DO WANT

EuroMillions is already one of the biggest lottery games in the world, but in a few weeks time it will be even bigger thanks to the addition of a new draw every Tuesday. The rules of the EuroMillions game will also be tweaked to make winning any prize even easier whilst at the same time making larger jackpots more common. The first Tuesday EuroMillions draw will be held on Tuesday 10 May, and tickets for this game will go on sale from Saturday 7 May.

The changes that will be made to EuroMillions include an increase in the number of Lucky Stars in the game and the addition of a 13th prize tier. The new prize tier will pay a prize to players who match just two main numbers, making it even easier to win a prize than it is at present. How much easier? Well, the current odds of winning any prize at all are 1 in 24, but when the rule changes have been made those odds will change to 1 in 13. That will, of course, increase the number of prizes that are won each week, and predictions are that the number of EuroMillions prizes won in an average draw will more than double.

How is adding an even less valuable prize actually helpful in any way? Does anyone do a little jig when they win £6.50?

This was a smart move by them, all designed to create massive rollovers. By adding just two lucky star balls (From 9 to 11) the chance of winning the top prize has risen from 1 in 76,275,360 to a huge 1 in 116,531,800.

This basically means lots of rollovers, lots of high figure jackpots. And I know I only used to play a couple of lines when jackpots reached ~£50M. Suddenly more jackpots will be above this, so lots more people will be playing. The addition of another smaller prize isn't such a big thing for them. 2 main balls and no lucky star gives you about £2.60 at odds of 1 in 23. And an overall chance of 1 in 13 of winning any prize at all.

Now just think all the draw games they have now, if you played them all how much would you be spending a week?

There's
Lotto £2 a week
Plus 5 (THingy) £2 a week
Thunder Ball £3 a Week
Hot Picks (If there still doing it?) £2 a week
Daily Play (well they have just ended this on 6th May 2011 so dont count now) £0 now
Euro Millions £4 a week

Thats £13 aweek for what? Talk about a Tax LOL I still wouldnt say no to a Jack Pot mind you

Does anyone else use the lottery as their only source of winning/gambling. I buy a ticket once a month usually but dont spend money on any other betting.
