Exciting news!
To celebrate the Olympics it seems BMW have released a new trim level for the 3 Series. It's called the Performance Edition.
Really excited about this - hopefully it's the UK version of the 335iS perhaps, with 320bhp? Maybe a mildly warmed over version of the 335d? Maybe they've reintroduced the 330i?
Lets read on!
Ah. It seems its available with only two engines, the stats of which are as follows:
BMW 318i Performance Edition (0-60 9.1 seconds)
BMW 318d Performance Edition (0-60 9.1 seconds)
Oh. Perhaps its ironically named, you know, as a joke? Performance Edition with the least powerful petrol engine in the range in it.
Perhaps it's called Performance Edition becuase it has a really high spec?
Ah. No. It's actually based on the base ES trim, with such delights as...
But lets not forget the best possible addition..
Sigh. What are they playing at? Effectively the two new Performance Editions are simply ES models with 18 inch wheels, M Sport bodykit, Sports Seats, Sports steering wheel and some London 2012 badges.
Somebody has to be having a joke with the name though, right?
