If you don't have an iPhone...

I've actually spoken to Apple fans who think that people who refuse to buy Apple products are some kind of a cult / social trend, and that Apple products are just better than everything else, and that Apple invented absolutely everything first.

In fact, Steve Jobs is the creator of EVERYTHING!

God stole Steve's patents on everything.

Steve Jobs will now have to sue God for patent infringement.

But have you checked email on other smartphone devices? They are all pretty much of a muchness. I didn't realise you needed any upgrading done to get email on phones!

For Novell you do, other thing like Exchange don't. I'm not the only one in IT support sick of Novell. Feels so outdated in every aspect.

Oh look it's cool to hate Apple. Boo hoo they are successful. Boo hoo their products aren't bargain basements prices.

Well the I'm better because I have a: Android or b: can build my own computer gets repetitive.

Get over yourselves. You make yourselves look as bad as the rabid Apple fanbois.

Actually I dislike Apple because they keep on suing everyone else for patent infringement, yet they stole patents from Nokia, Samsung and LG without any permission at all for the first iPhone, and then all the Apple fanboys start calling the iPhone unique, revolutionary, better than any other phone out there.

Then when samsung, LG or anyone else make a phone similar to the iPhone .... OMG how dare they clone the glorious iPhone? THEY SHOULD BE SUED!

As for the MP3 players they used to make, I bought an I Pod mini because everyone else had one and it looked flashy and cool and I wanted one too. I played with it for one week, and then it was left in a drawer forever and completely untouched.

As for the iPhone, originally it wasnt available on my my network and I didnt want to move to O2. Now i is available on my network, but I am not allowed to have one without changing my tariff, losing my 50% discount, and paying a lot of money.

Meh, I can have the latest HTC or Samsung phone instead, but I really like my X10 mini pro that was free :)

I hope you're right.

I'd love to move over to WP7 and have the same apps at the same price.

I just hope it happens :)

That's the only thing that annoys me about WP7 at the moment, the cost of the apps. I've bough two in the last 6 months because the xbox live games are around £3-4 rather than £1-2. If they were the latter then I would probably have spent a lot more on games!

The only other small thing that gets me is the lack of company programs (such as banking apps). The marketplace has expanded beyond all recognition in the last 4 months, with thousands of new (good) games and programs, just a little way to go with the free more utilitarian apps that are being released by the banks etc...

Hopefully in the near future we will get to a stage where a large proportion of the bigger programs/apps will be multiplatform, where once bought you can switch between platformss without having to buy it again and maybe play against people on other platforms. It would free up the system a lot more, no more "I have to stay with iOS/Android/WP7 because I've spent £100 on apps".

Ahhh, that makes sense now.:p

Companies are suing each other all the time, just because its Apple doing it, it gets more coverage. Its just business.

You're just misinformed as usual.

Microsoft were able to come up with their own UI. Why can't everyone else? Make something unique and different rather than cheap knockoffs.

Everyone are making their own UIs, but being mobile phone UIs they are going to have a lot of similarities. I never remember anyone complaining about similarities between different phone UIs prior to the I Phone, which there were a lot of.

There isnt really much different that can be done with multi capacitive touch screen displays in terms of the UI other than icons and on screen buttons to press.

:)

The following image has been circulating the internet for the past few days, resulting in mass hysteria due to the fact that Apple is currently suing the pants off of Samsung for infringing on their copyrights. This image appears to show that the Samsung F700 was first shown at CEBIT 2006 and released in February of 2007. What whoever made the image didn’t take the time to do was check their facts and find that although Samsung may have spoken about advancing their cell phone plans previous to 2007, they only showed the F700 design for the first time February 8th, 2007.

Do you have any idea how the world of intellectual property actually works? When company X is considering blatantly ripping off company Ys design, they do a cost analysis of how much the litigation would cost them, and if there is a profit, they do it anyway.

Thats how the big wide world works bhavv. Like nobody has ever sued Apple, or Microsoft, or Intel, or AMD, or Sony, or Samsung etc etc

Awwww now thats just plain spoiling the trolls fun.

And yes, bhavv is the very definition of a troll. Whether or not he believes what he posts, he deliberately says the most controversial thing in every thread he is in just to get a notice.

imo the iphone looked too generic to patent, it's entire premise is a screen and a single button. It's not exactly rocket science.

If the samsung phones that Apple say infringe looked EXACTLY the same, like some of the Asian knockoffs then yes, but to sue someone because they made a phone that looks similar based on the fact it has a screen and one "button" on the front is ludicrous, especially since the Galaxy S/S2 have more capacitive buttons too...

The other patents Apple are suing for should have never been granted, software patents are a complete joke. That's not Apples fault though.

Regardless of whether I morally agree with the patents or whether the look the same I personally think their strategy is anti-competitive and they should be ashamed.

Software patents are a complete joke and Apple definitely did steal hardware patents from Nokia:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8321058.stm

If everyone else are stealing Apples designs, then why didnt Apple sue Samsung and LG for the F700 and LG Prada?

Sure Apple, just go ahead and steal Nokias R+D, make the iPhone, and get away with lots of patent infringements. Yet feel free to sue anyone that makes a phone that looks like yours.
