Hi there,

I currently have a Fiesta 1.25 MK5 and it seems to be on its way out, its starting to have a lot of problems and I've grown tired of it to be honest. I fancy something abit more new.

So I'm looking for something around the same size for £3-6K. I'm not looking for performance or anything like that as my sister will be insured on this car once she passes too most likely.

I also (this is abit random) want something with an armrest, my god it seems to make so much difference on motorway journeys haha.

So what can you guys suggest?

Cheers :)

5-6k will get you a nice late model (09) VW Polo with a few toys and low mileage

Why make posts on the internet that contain incorrect and misleading advice? Why do you think its fair to do that to the OP :( I dont understand why people think they can make things up like this?

The only late model 09 plate Polo with a few toys and low mileage you'll be getting for £5k is one that has been, or still is, on fire. Whilst stolen.

:/

One of about 30 or so like this, and it's "late model (09) " not 09 plate lol

That's not even the latest model?

EDIT: My fault, thought you said "latest model", not "late model"

TBF, i can see quite a few "10" plate's (latest model) for less than £8k, so a previous gen "09" model for £6k should be easily do-able.

That's a library photo of an absolute bottom of the range model - the 1.2 E is the poverty spec Polo. Not quite 'a few toys' is there?

A more desireable model, like say a 1.2 Match, has a TRADE price of at least £6500 so would retail at closer to £8k!

Plenty of VW Polo 1.2 Match's around for circa £6.5k

When he said "a few toys" i assume he was speaking in context, and in the context of a VW Polo, CD player/Air conditioning/electric heated door mirrors are toys.

You were wrong :)

Thats £5-6k now is it?

The car he posted has none of those things?

It's going to take more than the odd autotrader advert to convince me that Polo's now retail for under trade book, sorry.

No, you're right, he was £500 off in his estimate - send him to the gallows!

Feel free to peruse AT yourself - either way, your original post made it sound like he was miles off in his estimate and it was totally impossible to get a VW Polo for around £6k. This obviously isn't the case.

Well I'm off to buy some Polo's from dealers tommorrow so I can bang them straight into auction and make a profit

Just searching nationally now, they are far from common at this pricepoint eh? Infact almost all are 1.2 E's, which are terrible. First half decent Match is £6.5k but has almost 50k miles on it - far from low mileage on a 2 year old car!

I stand by my opinion that '5-6k' does not buy an 09 Polo with 'low mileage' and 'toys'.

How about...

A Focus? Your budget should get you a reasonably nice Mk.II 1.6 or 1.8 in a decent trim level.

I'm going to get murdered for suggesting a Grande Punto aren't I?

Even though you were considering getting rid of your car?
