Saw this on the cover of Auto Express. It's meant to be a 3GT style car.

Not sure what to think really

I guess it's BMW's answer to the CLS.
They could not let Benz and Audi have that segment of the market all to themselves.

Is it any good? No idea

from that small cropped pic at the top it looks pretty damn good. Can't see why this shouldn't just be the normal 3 series though, doesn't really look much more coupe like.

Isn't the CLS a class higher? Eg. between E and S ?

I'm curious, I love 4 dour coupe's... Can't wait to see it.

That pics the gran coupe right? Not the new 4 series? Or are they calling the concept coupe the 4 series? Either way it looks pretty nice, I hope it has some decent na engines. I suppose they have to steal back some customers who went to the A5.

Oooh, I wonder is they'll do a 'performance edition'.

Wouldn't be my choice of new bmw, but if it funds them in making exciting new cars then I hope they sell like hot cakes.

Hmm, A5 is a 2dr coupe, BMW were way ahead of them on that one with the 6 series.

The A5 is nothing like a 6 Series, it is a 3 Series Coupe rival.

It's a 5 door - yes I'm being pedantic but I feel its important to point it out as the fact its a 5 door is what makes an A5 an A5 - the 4 door is the A4.

Way ahead of them.... in price yes. Totally different sector of car - 6 series is a Jaguar XK competitor.

Exactly. The A5 starts at around £25k and is available as a 1.8 litre 4 pot.

The 6 Series started at around £50k and the smallest engine was 3 litres, most of them were big V8's!

With a name like 4 Series, indicating it sits between 3 and 5, then no, I wouldnt imagine so. More like the A5 Sportback.

You're right though, why don't they just call it a 5 door and have done with it

I'm the same when people call the Impreza hatches esatates.

Within the 6 Series range perhaps? but it's also built on the 3 Series platform which lends further credence to the A5 theory.
