Just started selling things on ebay, the bids are coming in but I get the occasional request to send items abroad.

At the moment, I have two requests on two separate items to ship across to both Bulgaria and Romania - from different individuals.

Should I be wary? Both have 100% feedback, for example.

This and the price of postage is slightly putting me off.

:)

Recently I got a few requests to send to Russia.

Not a chance tho, keep it Uk only....I wont even send the the ROI.

Its always a hard situation.

I wouldnt post anywhere apart from the UK, it just gets complicated if its posted out of the UK and all sorts of things can happen.

And with Ebay always backing the Buyers rather than the sellers you could end up loosing the item and the money.

It also depends on how much 100% feedback they have a high ebay rating number

If you haven't added international postage fees onto the listing then you just send them an invoice with whatever the new total will be to ship to them, they can't just pay for the item as it is with UK postage.

If they have 100% feedback then I see no issue, unless you suspect account hijacking.

I send anywhere within the EU and never have any problem.

I'm usually willing to post within EU & rest of Europe, it's no bother at all with low value items. Occasionally restrict high value items to UK & ROI due to price of tracked, insured, signature on deliver services to rest of Europe. However there are sometimes legit buyers willing to pay for said shipping, so I will sometimes unblock them. Strict about only using the PayPal invoice address.

UK has its' share of scammers, just like everywhere else. Everywhere else has many good buyers, just like the UK.

Negotiate extra shipping to cover your costs.

I used to avoid sending abroad, but I've done it 3 times now without hitch. But still be carefull and if anything seems off with their feedback then avoid.

Edit: Worth noting, the items I sold were low value. Just games and books, if its of value then UK only.

Ive sent to Australia and Bulgaria before with no issues, but made sure i had loads of dialougue beforehand to get a feel for the person. And only on smaller items too.

I've not sold anything on eBay for a good year. But in the past I have sent abroad to Australia, Italy, Spain etc all without issues. But there's always a first I suppose.

Sold loads abroad. The worst is Italy. Their postal service is non existant I think. I am getting close to banning all sales to Italy because around 6-7% never EVER arrive. There are no such issues with other countries.
