Which small car?

Because mine and his tastes/situations are the same?

It just seemed odd that you were recommending a car you were thinking of getting rid of due to (in your words) being:

As I said though. There are other things that I don't like about the Punto.

Such as:

- Dead/stupidly light steering.
- Plastic plastic plastic.
- Brakes are snatchy.
- Too much travel in clutch pedal (probably just me being stupid).
- Flobbery gear change.
- Rear visibility because of the thick C pillars.

Not trying to have a dig, it just didn't make sense to me, sorry

Thats £5-6k now is it?

The car he posted has none of those things?

It's going to take more than the odd autotrader advert to convince me that Polo's now retail for under trade book, sorry.

Fox is right, just because there are 1 or 2 at £5-6K does not mean that the rest of them will be.

Look at the E46 M3 (I know completely different to a fiesta) but you can find one for £8k on autotrader but you wouldn't touch one because you know there is a reason why it is cheaper than the £10-11k M3's

He might not agree with these points, they are just my opinion.

Just like I say that I hate the texture of Mango, but others love it. It's up to him to decide whether he likes it or not, shouldn't take peoples recommendations as gospel, make your own mind up.

Wasn't having a go lol.

The Mother has a 57 reg 1.4 Corsa has owned it from 6 months old.

The engine gives a crappy 89hp like an R Reg Astra would from 1997.
The emissions are not particularly low.
The mpg is not great.
It chews front tyres (heavy car).
It has had a new clutch and several recalls for brakes. It has also had new discs already.
It has had a recall for the clutch too.

My 10 year old Micra has a yearly appointment with the MOT station and that is it.
I really would avoid the current Corsa.

how about the newer shaped corsa's?

No, just.....no.

Mate, I've seen a nice looking Punto Grande in autotrader so I was wondering if you could tell me more about them?

I think they look great, don't know much else about them though! Also does it have a armrest? The one I'm looking at does not, but I looked online and you can buy one for it, would you happen to know anyone that has done this?

Corsa, well they are pretty but I've drove one and I hated it, gearbox feels awful and its less comfortable than my Fiesta.

Polo, they seem very nice but I feel like I'm paying extra for a VW :(.

Thank you for your replies!

If you want a 3dr version, get a sporting. Can get it in a 1.4 16v with 95bhp. Or a 1.4 16v Turbo with ~120bhp.

My turbo has cruise control, electric lumbar support, air con, electric wing mirrors, blue and me audio system, centre armrest, along with other standard stuff. I think the only thing it doesn't have is climate control and parking sensors.

If you are just your everyday driver and not bothered about performance too much than I would recommend them, they are cheap to buy and run, and easy to drive around town due to light controls. If you are after a drivers car then look somewhere else.

I don't know about the centre armrest thing, would be easy to google though.

Avoid any other trim levels apart from Sporting and Eleganza, and avoid all the 8v engines, they are very underpowered. Even the 1.4 16v is pushing it.

The Corsa shares the chassis with the Grande Punto afaik, so if you found that uncomfortable, you may this too.

I personally don't like that generation Polo. My brother has a 3cyl and it's awful. The interior is horrible (but that is all down to personal preference).

You'd have to drive one to see if it's right for you. One other thing to bear in mind, the C pillars are HUGE which can make turning out of some junctions a pain, so you'll have to check that too.
