My std issue Apple headphones have bitten the dust today. Done well for a year use, every day.

So i need some new ones and decent. Inear type, don't fancy looking a tit with cans on down the street

Never done headphones before, audiophile hifi and speakers yeah phone nope

They're also mid-centric and average everywhere else.

Budget? Top-tier ala EarSonics SM3, Westone 4, IE8? Bang for buck like the Vsonic GR07 or Fischer Audio DBA-02s, or Hifiman RE262s? £1-200? £3-400?

Worth mentioning that these days you can get decent custom fit IEMs for around or even less than the price of the very top tier universal fit ones. Examples would be Minerva customs in the UK, or 1964 Ears from across the pond.

Beyerdynamic MMX100 in ear headphones...cost me about £80 and are possibly the finest in ears ive ever owned...deep punchy bass and clear mids and trebles...comes with a remote on the cable to pause, forward or rewind your music....they work a dream with my iphone4 and my Blackberry 9780 as well.

Highly recommended:)

I was going to get some really really nice ones for home use so will bear this all in mind.

However these need to be for everyday use and and at the gym! So £50 max

Sennheiser CX 300-II would be a fine upgrade on the standard ones you've been using, pay the extra and get them from a high street store rather than ebay though as there are a lot of fake ones around.

There loads of fakes about, looking on ebay different types of packing.

hmm £50 max. having no idea what kinda sound you want i say ECCI PR401, its a great all rounder and has a great low end responce that people coming from low end stuff usually want

Well as i use them in the gym and im going to be sweating like a pig not much point in going all out on some.

Your ears don't sweat, people in bands using in-ears get utterly drenched and their stuff runs fine. That said, I wouldn't take anything nice to the gym out of fear of damaging it, or someone nicking it.
