I must admit I'm not much of a big reader but looking to grab a few books for holidays shortly. Normally just take magazines but want to get into reading a bit more.

Interests include military/war, aircraft, cricket amongst other things. Any good suggestions for where to start? I haven't a clue!

Tornado Down is one i have marked down to order about the guys that got captured during the Gulf War but aside from that I haven't a clue at all.

With the Old Breed - Eugene Sledge
With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa is a World War II memoir by Eugene Sledge, a United States Marine. Since its first publication in 1981, With the Old Breed has been recognized as one of the best first-hand accounts of combat in the Pacific during World War II. The memoir is based on notes Sledge kept tucked away in a pocket-sized Bible he carried with him during battles.

Nothing to do with your interests but marching powder is a a good book as are , bringing down the house ,breaking Vegas and dirty rotten Americans all easy reading by ben menzich <<<<not sure of that spelling

If you want some entertaining militaryesque fiction i'd recommend:

Remote Control - Andy McNab
The Bricklayer - Noah Boyd
The Killing Floor - Lee Child

Great stuff - I forgot about the Andy McNab stuff. Will check those out.

Anything else more closely associated with perhaps RAF/airforces? I think I'd prefer real life stuff rather than anything really far fetched if that makes sense.

Sniper One - by Sgt Dan Mills
Task Force Helmand by Doug Beatie
Chickenhawk by Robert Mason
Any of the Jack Reacher Series by Lee Child

+1 for 'With the old Breed'
The rise and Fall of the third Reich. ( this might not be a good holiday book)
Bravo two Zero. Andy McNab
Warthog: Flying the A10 in the Gulf War. by William L Smallwood
