Hey,

My mate is trying to sort himself out a new rig, a proper gaming PC (not proper, but decent'ish!!) so he spec'd himself something for £560ish, now he is looking to cut down as MUCH as possible! So I did the below i3 rig for £432 which I thought was quite nice.. Can anyone fault it or think of anything else that could improve it?

Cheers!

EDIT - Btw, anything would be an upgrade! I think he is coming from a really old home pc, prebuilt by Compaq or something horrid.. Intel P4/Celeron, 1GB RAM, ATI X600 Pro, 80GB IDE HD, something along those lines.. So nothing really salvageable! No OS needed either as I already have this for him - just the case & all internals...

A better case with the PSU in the bottom, and metal thats not so thin the whole case flexes.

Titan - How does it not have the 'right connectors' - please explain?

Stulid - Do you have any alternatives you could suggest? I only went for that for the few decent reviews & for the money the internals looked nice as well with the black paint & orange contacts..

As your budget is £450 you could really god for the i3- 2120 3.3Ghz if you want to. But I don't think you'd see a hugh jump in performance. I could be wrong though.

Chris - No idea what that is meant to mean...

Jfro - Well his 'budget' was really £550 I just lowered it down to £450ish as I got him a decent rig spec'd as above for the £430 region so he was well pleased with that.. But yeah could go higher but I doubt the performance for the price increase is really worth it tbh..

EDIT
Stulid - Yeah it's worth the extra few quid, I'll change it to that - looks pretty spot on to me..

Woah! £550 changes everything!

Yeah that was because he couldn't spec anything lower he has no clue.. :p Until I showed him the i3 build I did that could quite nicely do him, so he immediately wanted to bring it down to the £450 tops region.. ;)

Skill.. skill..

Fail #2 - Where is the power supply? No wonder the total is so cheap....

Anyway moving swiftly on..

Jfro - Sorry dude but his budget was £550 odd, not anymore since I showed him a decent i3 rig in the sub £430 area!! Haha, thanks anyway mate..

Risky - He is a true Intel geek so he won't go down the AM3 route as he wants to upgrade this rig later to an i5 CPU or something - good spec though. He won't be overclocking at all so won't want a 3rd party cooler for the CPU..

Anuraj - Nice spec but GPU is a bit naff and there is no PSU in there..

That's understandable. Nevermind, I think you really get into i5 2500k's and better when you're not thinking about budget too much anyway. Was worth a crack at twisting your/his arm ;)
