Earthquake rocks south Spain

Just got off the phone with my dad who retired there a few years back who lives about 30Km from Lorca. He seemed fine but did say he ran out of the newly build villa with the cat following him.

I also hope the villa is fine after it took 4 years to build.

And dont you just love spanish news, no removing images of dead people like the UK would have.

Plates move, Earthquakes happen, well it's been doing that for millions of years, funny that.

Certainly seems to be a lot of instability under the plates at the moment. Wouldn't like to be near Yellowstone at the moment :p (not that being far away would do much good either)

Aww, don't even joke about it. Yellowstone is the one doomsday scenario that actually worries me. :(

What, mass mysteria about the world ending becuase of a minor earthquake, something which has been happening for thousands of years?

I suspect you are right, sigh.

ABANDON ALL NUCLEAR POWER.

The footage of the bell hitting the ground on BBC news site looked awesome!
Lucky the reporters didn't get hit!

Not so good about the damage to peoples lives though. :(

Please, don't even joke... The CT nuts/idiots will take it seriously!

And NO... This is not likely to be remotely related to the earthquakes around Japan!:p

Southern Spain - So pints of carling and full English breakfasts spilled everywhere with bright red sunburnt inhabitants in union jack shorts asking "WOT THE **** HAPPENED THERE".

It's not quite that area of Spain, well mostly!

Wonder how my parents house is... It's literally 15 minutes down the road from Lorca...

Some of the 2012 and May 21st 'Rapture' stuff is crazy in America, I think it will be quite entertaining watching the conspiracy nuts make excuses and moving the date when the time comes.

But you have to admit, the weather/nature has been pretty wild recently, this stuff happens.

Noticed this in Thailand too, gorey crash scenes and even a picture of a kid hung in a playground on dinner time news. Same with war/conflict, the UK/US public never see pictures of dead soldiers or civillians - only coffins. Since we live in a democracy maybe the public ought be more informed of the realities of war.

Whilst I agree it's a natural phenomena/part of the world we live in, people losing their lives and having all their worldly possessions and homes destroyed, and friends/family injured killed is tragic. Throw away comments like yours really are quite distasteful in my opinion.
