In a word.......NO

What stulid has spec'd is an excellent "budget" gaming rig. Buying anything lower spec'd than this I honestly believe is false economy.

He has had to exclude the monitor to keep it even close to the £400 budget you stated. Do you not have a lcd tv? That could well have a vga or DVI connection and let you get started till you can save for a dedicated screen for the rig.

better than ^^stulids build :O, you forgot the monitor dude lol

A 500W supply with case for under £30 that's gotta be cheap and nasty. I really really really wouldn't want to use it.

I know you were trying to juggle things into the budget but like I said in my previous post anything less than stulids spec is false economy.

*edit* The only other thing I can suggest is to maybe drop the gfx card entirely from the spec and use a mobo with integrated gfx. The 4250 in my mobo and laptop can run COD4 well enough, I don't play wow so have no idea how well it would run on an integrated gpu, new games really are out the question though.

Reclaiming that £80 odd should help get everything else you need in budget then add a gfx card later. Gives you time to save some money and as time passes you may find that card is cheaper still and even better bang for buck......just a thought.

TBH OP, you would have much better luck shopping around for either 2nd hand parts, or a 2nd hand system, £400 2nd hand will easily bag you a semi decent quad core system with hopefully at least 5770 level graphics, maybe more, i'll echo what ^^ said about the screen, an LCD television will do a acceptable job for displaying gameplay until you can afford better, also 2nd hand parts would be better as they would offer more scope for upgrading in the future, £400 would be enough for just cpu ram gfx and general stuff inside the case but it's needing everything that's making this seemingly impossible :)

This is the minimum to look at.

Quality mouse and decent keyboard, MUCH better than the above Blaze rubbish.

motherboard offers the chance to unlock extra cores too

LOL at the PSU,

I do agree stulid I already posted that opinion in a more diplomatic fashion ;) You are good at finding benchmarks and reviews, is wow possible on an integrated GPU? That's the only way I can see him doing any kind of gaming on that budget.

I wouldn't advise buying secondhand. All this new stuff has a warranty, when buying secondhand you don't really know the history of it and troubleshooting any problems only makes things worse (no RMA for example) and more expensive.

I'm not picking on you, I know you are trying to help this guy out but in my opinion what you suggest is false economy. The OP is making a BIG ask

Thanks for all the advice guys :) everything is so expensive these days i used to play WoW bout 5 years ago on a really crappy ideq mini pc n it ran fine lol now though seems everything costs a fortune :( maybe second hand is the way to go

Really? why not?

2nd hand for the most part is just as good as brand new, sure some parts might not feature warranty etc etc but generally if you do your homework and research decent parts from decent places, they can be better then brand new, 90% of my watercooling build is 2nd hand, same for my computer in general, only parts i've ever bought brand new were cpu, ram, psu and Hard drives but i have bought all of those 2nd hand in the past too with no issues ;)

I know they aren't intended for gaming stulid it was the only real option I could see for the OP to get a rig in his budget. Like I said he would be able to game in some form just not new titles. I had hoped that it would run wow even if the settings were on low and that he could upgrade the gfx later or blag one as a gift for a b'day or xmas etc.

I'd advise against buying secondhand. If you are that desperate goto you local tip and look for old monitors that have been disowned. Armed with a £5 note to bribe the guy with beer he may well let u take one home.

This any good? Get this and monitor for 460 n just get crappy keyboard n mouse for now :) could even use crappy monitor fpr couple of months maybe?

Mate how can anything secondhand be better than brand new?

The OP can buy second hand some people are lucky, I'm just saying that it can be false economy.

*edit* I'm all for reusing parts people own to help keep costs down when on a budget. I've suggested this countless times! Let's say he omits the gfx card and has the rest new. Buys a 2nd hand card for £40 and it fails in a month or so. What can he do but buy again? Get another 2nd hand one for £40 that's what the 5830 would have cost in total and that would be a better card and have warranty (some cards have atleast 2 years on them). Like i said false economy, he could be lucky but it is essentially gambling with his money......not much of a gambling man myself :P

My rig is 90% 2nd hand parts, other than the case and psu, everything is used and it's been faultless :)

You get a lot more for your money 2nd hand.
