Worst film you have seen.

Darkness Falls is the worst film I've paid to see at the cinema, it was just awful and not scary at all. It happens to be 8 years to this day that it was released in UK cinemas, and since then I've probably been to the cinema over 100 times and not seen anything worse.

Crank 2 is the worst I've seen at home. The first was okay but the second was just cringe worthy. It should have been straight to video - same for Gamer too. I'm avoiding anything made by Mark Neveldine or Brian Taylor in future.

Enter....

THE LAWNMOWER MAN 2

Easily the most awful film, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVARR!!1one

The Room is on another level of worse.

I keep going on about it, I know, but I can't stress to you guys how bad it is...

i picked paranormal activity as the worst because it is utter **** it really is bad.

i have seen thousands apon thousands of films and watch a film a night and that really is one of the worst ive seen

Have you seen The Asylum's knockoff "Paranormal Entity"?

It's worse. Believe me, it's worse.

Still not "the worst" I've ever seen, though.

I'm now intrigued, that acting is so bad that I can't believe it's not Starship Troopers style parody. I don't know if it was just the clip but the lip syncing seemed to be off too. And "what kind of money?" as a question repeatedly?

I've just looked it up on IMDB and it's thought to have had a budget of $6m - that's an awful lot of hookers and blow to still come up with something quite so bad.

Before I watch that trailer, I must ask... Have you seen the Lawnmower Man 2? If the Room is genuinely on another level of atrocity, I will be compelled to watch the movie, but I simply cannot see how it is possible to be worse than my nomination.

The director made the film with the best of intentions, thinking he was making a good film. It's worth investigating the circumstances of the film. Initially I thought it was deliberately bad, but the film is just so, so, so unbelievably bad that it's actually torture to sit through unless you're with a crowd of people. It took my flatmate and I two sittings to get through it, and it's only about 90 minutes long.

How he raised the cash for the film isn't entirely clear, but he did raise $6m in cash to make it.

If it's supposed to be a parody, then Tommy Wiseau is an absolute genius. But you can actually see rehearsal footage on youtube of it and the guy was apparently so genuine and sincere about it that all of the cast believe he thought he was making a good film.

To highlight some things: he bought a "first time" directors package and shot the whole thing on a film camera and a digital camera side by side to see which was better. The script was so terrible that the script editor, and cast, had to re write it on a daily basis on set. The lead female actress was made to film the (numerous) sex scenes on her first day on set, apparently Tommy Wiseau just jumped on her and made her film them. There is even a character in the film who, towards the end, vanishes and is replaced by a different character and actor but with complete knowledge of all that's happened in the film.

There are so many plot threads that are introduced and instantly abandoned. Here's an example:

This is mentioned once and never, ever brought up again.

The dialogue and acting are monumentally bad. There is not a whiff of parody about it. The sync issue is probably just a dodgy youtube rip.

Naffa - yes, I have. yes this is worse. They don't call it "the Citizen Kane of bad movies" for nothing.

Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd.

The original's a classic but that one was just terrible, didn't make it to the end.

The Happening - I only watched it because Zooey Deschanel was in it, but the concept was just stupid.

A Man Apart - The whole movie was just bad and the ending even worse.

Burn after reading

it just wasn't for me :(

Burn After Reading is a film with a good script, great directors and a good if not great cast.

Now, it's subjective in as much as it might not be a film that you LIKED. But one of the worst films ever? God no. Not even remotely in the same league as other bad films.

I quite liked Burn After Reading. I can see why it wouldn't be everyone's cuppa tea, though. I'd like to enter Johnny English into the thread. I actually saw it at the cinema, too. :(

EDIT: I just saw The Room's trailer on YT, oh my goodness...

August Underground's Mordum

It has no purpose in this world.

Liked that film - a good one. Was a film about serial killers, but made without any dramatic impact. Not tainted with any sentimentality or the usual softening that we usually get with killer films to 'protect' us.

Methinks you're wrong! ;)

Human Centipede has to be up near the top of the list of bad films - even though it made me laugh out loud a couple of times!
