a few days ago I went to the mountains after a long time and I took these photos. I sometimes have the impression that to find ( the lost ) serenity 'there is nothing better than going to a quiet place alone. You agree?

Over Easter I walked up mount Snowdon in Wales with my dad. We camped at a local camp site for £5 a night each. Then walked up the mountain early Saturday morning. We thought that we got there early, but at 9am the car park was full at the base station and so we had to walk from the very bottom. It took about 3 hours to walk to the top and then we took the long (easier) way down. My knees were screwed on the way down.

On Saturday night though we went to the pub instead of cooking crappy camping food and i had a nice lamb shoulder.

Definitely a great experience and we plan to walk up skegness pike or go up to cumbria and walk up the mountains up there. We got a parking ticket from the welsh police for parking at the bottom of the moutain, so did about 300 other people. a £35 fine or £70 if you don't pay, didn't ruin the trip, but what a way to greet tourists. fools.

nice pictures btw.

Only yesterday I was planning a trip to Lucerne for end of August - if it's even half as beautiful as that it'll be money well spent. Thanks :)

Lucerne is a rather small but very nice city and also a strategic point from doing excursions.

Pics edited - Far too big for the forums!

Arrgh! Massive photos! :p

Yup, can't beat mountains for refreshing the soul. A couple of years ago I drove down to the Swiss Alps with a group of mates. It was dark when we arrived, but waking up to be surrounded by a steep alpine valley was spectacular.

Although the chances of ever getting that feeling on Snowdon are pretty remote! Next time try a little less touristy part of Snowdonia, just make sure it's not above your skill level. Oh and where exactly is skegness pike?? :p

I love the country and adore hill walking. Just spent a weekend in the Yorkshire Dales (Settle), some great hiking territory there. Did Ingleborough and it was quiet there generally, loved it.

Snowdon is a great climb but far too busy, especially as the Miner's track and Pyg track converge close to the summit.

Really nice OP. There's nothing better than being alone in a beautiful location, enjoying the peace and tranquility. it's very soothing for the soul.
