Deus Ex and 2560 x 1600

Hi all,

in preparation for the new deus ex coming I wanted to replay the first one again, but I can't get it to go higher than 1600 x 900, has anyone got any idea how I can make it use 2560 x 1600?

Probably a stupid question, but do you have a monitor that can go up to that resolution?
 
It's unreal engine, so you should be able to open a console window and then type the following "setres 1920x1200" without quotation marks.
 
You can set the resolution in the Deusex.ini file, just edit these lines:

FullscreenViewportX=640
FullscreenViewportY=480
FullscreenColorBits=16

To

FullscreenViewportX=2560
FullscreenViewportY=1600
FullscreenColorBits=32

That should work

There is also a DirectX10 Renderer which can improve things and help make it more compatible on modern systems:

I think it tells you how to install them on the site but, really all you do is drop the files into the DeusEx system directory and then select the renderer which can be done when you first load up deusex and the first time config menu pops up (or by using deusex safemode) and asks you to choose which renderer, click show all and the DX10 renderer should be in the list.

You can also in game press t and then type in "preferences" to get access to the advanced options of the various renderers and in the DX10 you can set AA and AF, you can also edit this in the deusex.ini file but it is easier ingame.

I've always hated the way it looks on 1680x1050, hud and text is too small - can't even imagine what it is like in higher resolutions.

I still maintain that the best it ever looked for me, was playing it on a 19" CRT. Sigh. :(
 
I completed it at 2560 x 1600 last year. So definitely doable :)

Going to play it on 1920x1200 over the weekend :P

How did you do it?

Thanks for the input guys, I have updated the game to the latest version and run the DX10 thing, it shows the resolution but won't go fullscreen, I have tried editing the config as posted earlier but it doesn't work

Try ALT+Enter to switch to fullscreen.

Can't remember right now. But I will be doing the mod again to play soon, so will let you know when I have done so if you have not figured it out by then :)

I would not bother with that steam forum link. The link I posted gives dx10 and actually looks much better. Even the op admits he needs to update his guide ;)
 
what the beep .........ive just got around to doing this ... and deus ex has disappeared from my steam folder......... erm ...........how ??

i should add .... i tried to find it to do it ... i hadnt done the update and its disappeared

and what have they done to the support system ??? used to be simple .... can you send tickets anymore ?? i dont want to use a forum

i should also add .. dues ex is on my system .. and if i allow steam to scan my system it shows as on there .. buts not in my steam folder for some reason

If you have a decent line, just Download it again, only 0.7gb. But no idea why it would disappear. It's not like the link I posted asks you to install anything. Copy paste job.
 
I still can't get it to run fullscreen at 2560 x 1600, it just goes back to a window, i've tried everything, just started playing it at 1920 x 1200 fullscreen which is not my native res. :(
