I use a relatively basic PC

G41M-E2SL motherboard with a E5300 at 3Ghz, runs the small overclock at stock voltages on a Intel cooler

CPU cooler sounds like it is on it's way out so what would be best to replace it with

priorities are simple, it needs to fit and be as quiet as possible

Thanks :)

+1 for the hyper212

i just recently removed one of these from the system in my sig, had a pair of vipers in push/pull with the akasa pwm fan spitter, and even when gaming i never noticed them, very very quiet set up, and cracking temps even at 3.4 oc.

the hyper is quite a large HS considering the budget bracket it belongs in, but i highly reccomend it. if you want real world dimensions of the hyper i can measure it up tomorrow for you if ya want. the coolermaster website used to have them but for some reason they removed the 2d image

Minimum of Noise

Due to the low noise impeller and the patented fan holder, the 92 mm fan of the Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2 generates only 0.8 Sone at 2,500 rpm, which is extremely quiet for such performance. Controlled by PWM signal, the fan runs just the necessary speed at lowest noise level for maximum cooling capacity.

not sure how Sone compares to DB but it is very very quiet, after having a Fenrir in my rig i always thought something was wrong because it was soo quiet lol

if it fits then it sounds like it fits the bill

the AC one looks good too but can't find dba figures

that's the odd thing I found 1 Sone = 40dba so that would make the cooler 32 dba which can't be right

loool definitely not 32Db, i'll go so far as to say it's as quiet as the akasa apaches i have running in my case, and i cant hear them with my ear right next to them lol

this is what my google powers have located

Sone to dBA cannot be converted linearly.

A formula with a cautious try to convert sones to decibels:
dBA = 33.22 × log_base10 (sones) + 28
with a possible accuracy of ± 2 dBA for sones range above 1

With this table you can try to convert roughly, but be cautious using these values. It's not knowledge - it's more a guess.

sones dBA sones dBA

I had a Freezer 7 in my system for ages. It is a very quiet cooler, and was inaudible in my system over the case fans.
