Hi,

Just wondering if people could share what temperatures their Gigabyte Super OC GTX 480s run at, either idle or under OCCT. There seems to be a lot of people having problems with them, and it would nice to have some kind of reference to see how other people's stack.

Mine idle around 50C and OCCT can get up to over 100C...

Mine also idles at around 50c. Not tried OCCT but in games under load it peaks at about 80c with the auto fan controller running the fan at about 60 percent. I have a HAF-X Case.

Your temps sound very high under load. Do you have a side fan? Try reversing it so that it exhausts instead of being an air intake. The 480 SOC cooler is great but dumps all the hot air in the case, which needs to be expelled.

your temps are about right

in my well ventilated case I get about 47C idle, normal gaming load temps 75-82C depending on the game, and OCCT or Furmark after 10-15 minutes, 100C is about right too

my card is idling at 48 while i type this and gaming is 51-75 usually depending on the game, for example sonic and sega all stars racing keeps at 51, while something like bulletstorm or ffxiv pushes it up to 70-75

dont let it go that high for a crummy stress test. Don't stress it on OCCT as it stresses and heats it way more than it will ever run normally.

What he said stress tests just beat the hell out your hardware !!! if its stable in game and cool enough in games why fry your card ??????

here is a Screen shot after 30 mins of crysis 2 :D

Mine idle's at 41oC ... in games max 81oC....
Avoid OCCT etc as they just heat up card.... ( mine went to 100oC after 4 mins so i aborted .... 870/2000 )
Just enjoy your card....:D

just curious, what is the voltage supposed to be at for these

according to afterburner my voltage is 975 which seems a lot lower than ones shown here.

Im guessing it varies from card to card?

This is just ridiculus.

A stress test is just that, the card should be able to run at 100% capicity and still perform within it's designed limits, at least for a reasonable amount of time.

My old Soc would idle at 39 and OCCT would push it to 88 approx, running for about 20 minutes.

However that card was faulty, it was getting artifacts. The new one I got, after I exchanged it idled 5 degrees higher with the side off and got to 103 in about 3 minutes and was still climbing. The maximum temp that card is rated to is 105 degrees.

OCCT/Furmark may push your card, but at some point a game will come along that does the same. Anything approaching 100 degrees for these cards is getting risky, we aren't in summer yet after all.

You may not want to admit it, but if your cards are getting to around 100, you have a problem.
