doing what she wants when she wants without question

some of the arguments I have with the gf are ridiculous, on the odd occasion if I even express an opinion of wanting to, say, eat at a different restaurant to the one she planned she acts like I shot her mum in the face and slept with her sister.

You're doing it all wrong. The whole idea is to please her not scare her to death. The film will do that.

Pub crawl, it's easily the best first date. They get hammered, you get hammered, you then poke her in an alleyway beside a hobo who's just pooed himself. It's a fun romantic story to tell your grandkids.

I went on a really good date the other day and can concur that the Pub/Cafe/Park is a really nice way to get to know them, you can't talk in the Cinema.

Cinema should always be reserved for the second or third date!

Had great sucess taking girls to a zoo or interesting museum followed by drinks/cafe.
Also topics of conversation but you can do a lot of talking, holding hands even.

Cinema is a bad idea. You can't talk! Me and my boyfriend went on our first date just for a few drinks in town. Met at a pub, was a little awkward to start with, after a couple of drinks, we were both chatting away, getting to know each other, after a few more drinks we were snogging each other's faces off in a club

I think our 5th date was to the cinema. Had met again a couple of times in town, been out for dinner, decided to go for cinema. The film we wanted to see was sold out - Orange Wednesdays - so we ended up seeing the first Twilight film (not that we saw much of it

). But we'd had a few dates to get to know each other before that. Cinema on first date = no interaction.
