About to go to a computer repair shop

By any chance are us trying to install Windows Vista 64bit from a pre sevice pack 1 DVD? The pre service pack 1 DVD's could not install windows if the PC had more than 2GB of ram installed due to an error with a file called storport.dll I think. That would produce same symptoms (BSOD) when trying to install as you are finding now with your new MB and CPU.

I installed from a pre-service pack 1 DVD with 4GB of RAM with no issues.

As posted above, try running the CPU and RAM on the manufacturers settings and trying running only one DIMM.

Also i have seen it before where a install of windows can cause mayhem with a system.
