Hey,

Well, tomorrow is the renewal date for my insurance policy, and other than originally sending a 100% overpriced renewal Admiral have been amazingly helpful and good value.

We have a multicar quote, 2002 330i sport, 2003 micra 1.2s, a 23 year old male (me) with a fault claim and only 1 ncb, and a 22 year old female with 4 years NCB. The renewal was £1993, but re-doing the quote online brought it down to £997, £640 for the BMW, £360 for the micra, both insured on both. Cheapest quote i could find from anywhere else was £2100 for my car and £550 for the micra, so a more than substantial saving, down from £1650 last year (£1200/£450).

I decided to use an 12 month interest free credit card for this as it just makes a lot of sense, so applied for one 3 weeks ago (Which i thought was plenty of time!) in anticipation, but the bank has been very good at making sure it didn't arrive in time, (pin arrived yesterday, 21 days after application , but the card is to follow; Halifax told me that's just the way it is! Never waited that long before).

When i phoned up Admiral to sort the renewal out, I mentioned I was waiting for a new card from my bank, and they just said "no worries i'll put a 14 day deferred payment note on the account, just pay within 14 days and it'll be all good, policy will still be live from tomorrow though".

Brilliant! Saved having to stick it on my "daily" card that does accrue interest! Very helpful welsh girl that spoke good english, I think a few companies could take a leaf out of their book :)

But yea, plenty of bad things to read on this forum about insurers and massive increases in premiums, so I thought it'd be nice to have a happy ending for once!

Tom.

Wow a beemer for £550.
Even with both parents a Ka would cost me that to insure.

?? massive reading fail there buddy, it was £550 for the micra from other insurers!

It's £640 for my 330i from admiral

Also worthy of note is that I live in an OL postcode, which some brokers refuse to quote on as a blanket and is a group E (out of a - f, f being the worst)

That is a huge saving.

My renewal was £1200 with Bell but when I got a new quote online with Admiral using the same details I was quoted £760 which Bell then matched. :)

I'm still with them as they were the cheapest in the end, didn't stop them giving me a renewal of £2200 up from £1600 :O got them back down to £1600 going through as a new customer quote, which mysteriously disapeared, but the quote from elephant was the same and was still there, so the matched it due to their affiliation.

online quote for a bmw 325, 22 years with 1 NCB and b/c rated postocde came up at 1.5k for me, is it cheaper over the phone or something?

Admiral pulled a blinder for me too, my renewal quote from them was £8 more than last year, whereas the competition quotes I got from comparison websites were in the region of £150 more expensive.

MoreThan who I was with a few years back wanted £650 to insure my V reg '99 1.8 Focus! I paid them a little over £300 for the same car previously.

I'm currently on Admiral, they were the cheapest (along with Elephant, though I think they're in some way related) by some way, and the 10 month = 1 year for NCB is great for a new driver like me. Still £1932 for a C1, but it was waaay cheaper than everyone else. Customer service has been good, and the call centre is based in the UK - all good!

Got a great deal with admiral too. Mines £700 fully comp. Thats 24 with 3 years no claims and all modifications declared. Thats a Nissan Primera GT with a lot of mods (193 bhp N/A). In 2 months when I turn 25 they will even update my policy to include doc cover. Missus is with swiftcover atm but will be looking for a multicar policy in the future.

They did charge me £27 to change address though. Even though my car was parked on the road going through the center of town where as now it is on the outskirts of town in a locked garage. Im sure it's the same for a lot of insurance companies though.

they were easily the best choice for me too. 23yrs, 0 no claims (was a named driver before), first car in my name, 1.7 Puma. £760 fully comp. Closest quote (not including Admirals other parts in bell etc) was £1800. Apart from an early hiccup where they got my adress wrong and sent it a letter or 2 to our neighbours (sorted quickly) its been a smooth transaction.

Paying in full also made a huge difference. Would have been around £1250 if I wanted monthly payments and a similar increase for the other quotes.

I rave about admiral also, I had a bmw e46 323ci at 18 year old 1 no claims that was 1200, I just changed to a cupra R and it was an extra £70 so it came to close to £1300 other quotes were 4k+ thats on a multicar with me as the main driver parents as named drivers.

Admiral again did me a great deal, my renewal fell by over £900 :) and their call centre is in Cardiff if you were wondering :p

Really? The person I spoke to a couple of months ago was in the Swansea call centre, they obviously love Wales :)

Admiral are great, they always give me an excellent deal and I am building up my no claims quickly with them.

Quick question for you guys.
Is this for 10month or full year?

Multicar policy only run for 12 months, single car policies give you the 10 or 12 month option
